A stumble seemed inevitable, but the 23-year-old had nothing to worry about with her boyfriend by her side. Paul Skenes had taken the Pittsburgh Pirates colors in his latest Instagram post, made on July 18, 2025. The pitcher, donning a navy blue t-shirt, mint green shorts, flip-flops, a blue cap, and sunglasses, posed on a beach with someone special, and no, it wasn’t his girlfriend, Olivia Dunne. The post had been captioned, “They call me the Dog Father”. Even the cap that he wore read, “Dog Dad“, and fair enough, posing alongside him on the beach, was Roux-Dunne’s golden retriever. Wonder how she reacted?

The former gymnast took to the comment section to drop a four-word message. She wrote, “Very nice content babe“– a playful, affectionate, and maybe a bit cheeky moment for the couple. But it’s a loving shout‑out that also reminds everyone of their fun, flirty relationship. The cap had made a comeback. On June 16, 2025, when the world celebrated Father’s Day, the SI model also posted a picture of her MLB boyfriend on her story, where the cap reading Dog Dad was visible.

Paul Skenes is also not so far behind in surprising his girlfriend with gifts related to their pet. On her 22nd birthday, the pitcher gifted Dunne a baseball card of Roux made by Topps. Yup, and that card is one of a kind with a photo of Dunne and her ‘Most Favourite’ on the front. It also features “Happy Birthday Liv!” along with the date, October 1, 2024, marking her birthday. But the real fun is on the back of the card.

The back of the card has all the stats about Roux’s life– birthday, favorite food, favorite human, etc. While the favorite human stat did have Liv mentioned next to it, the dog was never meant to be with Olivia Dunne.

Olivia Dunne had once confessed in an interview that “I’ve always been a dog person.” She talked of another Golden Retriever she had in her life named Biscuit. Having grown up homeschooled, she was her best friend. After Biscuit passed away, she always knew that she would want another dog. So when she and Paul decided to adopt a pup in October 2023, they chose a dog who would give them unconditional love. Dunne wanted a dog who wouldn’t care how good they did in the gym or how fast they threw the ball.

She does have her problems with parenting him, but she loves him even more. The interesting part is that the original plan was for Roux to keep Paul company during spring training. “I ended up taking her because I wanted her all to myself,” the former gymnast laughed. “She never ended up going with him to spring training, so she stayed with me in Louisiana.” 

Paul gets to see the dog, though. “I have been going to Pittsburgh a bunch to visit Paul, and I try to bring her with me as much as I can make the drive,” the 23-year-old confessed back then. This was back when she was still with LSU as a gymnast. After her retirement, she is mostly seen in attendance at Pittsburgh home games. That means Paul must be playing with Roux a lot more than before. What’s your thought?
