On April 6, Olivia Dunne shared what she casually called a “quick lil life update🔮” on TikTok—but it was far from ordinary. The brief video looked like a scene pulled straight from a dreamy, coastal film. It began with Livvy walking along the beach, camera in hand, her hair tousled by the wind as she embraced the peaceful seaside vibes. She didn’t just look happy—she radiated the kind of glow that makes you want to pack your bags and find your own version of bliss. With waves murmuring in the background, text drifted across the screen:  “First semester grad school done, house hunting at the beach, bought a nyc apt, and walking to get a pina colada life is sweet like cinnamon.” In that simple moment, Livvy made it clear—life after gymnastics isn’t just full, it’s flourishing. She now holds keys to a place in New York City—and a life that’s unfolding beautifully. But but but…

Does Olivia Dunne already have a property in NYC from any source? No, certainly not. She is from New Jersey. So, in that case, Livvy might have to tweak the lines of the poem she wrote. Why? The news has recently come.

On July 8, Olivia Dunne shared a video on her TikTok account that quickly gained traction, eventually being picked up by Fox News and reposted on X along with a full report. But what exactly happened? In the video, the former gymnast revealed that she had been preparing to purchase Babe Ruth’s former New York City apartment. The historic seventh-floor unit—featuring three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and classic prewar charm—is located at 345 W. 88th St. and was listed in March for $1.59 million. Livvy, who has earned at least $6 million through NIL deals, had even begun shopping for furniture for the place she and her boyfriend, Paul Skenes, planned to share in NYC. But then, out of nowhere, an unexpected twist threw her plans off course.

In the video, Olivia Dunne shared, I get a call. The co-op board denied me.” But what was the reason? “The people in the building voted to not have me live there, which is fine; like, honestly, it wasn’t financial,” she explained. Still, Livvy hinted that there might have been more to it. “I know they could have been Alabama fans, and I went to LSU; like, I have no clue,” she said, suggesting college sports rivalry may have played a role. “Maybe they didn’t want a public figure living there, but I was literally supposed to get the keys, and that week, they denied me.” Despite the disappointment, she still admired the place, calling it “iconic” since it had once belonged to Babe Ruth. According to Olivia, her and boyfriend Paul Skenes’s LSU connection might have been what swayed some Alabama-leaning residents to block their move.

Was Livvy’s theory correct? Maybe. One example might shed some light. A fan commented,  Sounds like she’s already preparing for Paul Skenes to the Yankees.” Is that really the case? There’s no solid update on that front yet. But let’s face it—moving into a Yankees legend’s former apartment was never going to be simple for a couple tied to LSU and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Not everyone gets to live like the Sultan of Swat. If Olivia had gone through with the move, she would’ve needed to align herself—at least symbolically—with Babe Ruth or the Yankees. And honestly, the timing couldn’t have been more interesting. Still, Paul Skenes remains one of the least likely candidates to leave the Pirates for the Yankees anytime soon, and fans definitely picked up on that. They didn’t hold back in the comments section.

Olivia Dunne received a push on the wrong side

In her TikTok clip, Olivia Dunne summed up the disappointment with a telling line: “Long story short, don’t try to live in a co-op. You might get denied. And you won’t get Babe Ruth’s.” Clearly, her experience in NYC left more than just frustration—it left a mark. After all, this was supposed to be her and boyfriend Paul Skenes’s first home together in the city. But fans? They weren’t exactly sympathetic.

What’s your perspective on:

Did Alabama fans really block Olivia Dunne's NYC dream home over college rivalry?

Have an interesting take?

One viewer took a jab at her delivery, commenting, “After listening to her “like” “um” “literally” talk for 67 seconds I would have voted “No” as well!!” Ouch. That mockery struck at both her speech and on-screen presence. Another chimed in with a college rivalry twist: “Def the Alabama fans haha.” It was a nod to last year’s fiery LSU vs. Alabama showdown in Baton Rouge, where Livvy and Paul, both proud LSU Tigers, made waves. Seems some Alabama fans might still be holding a grudge?

Still, not everyone piled on. One comment questioned the system itself:  “Wowwww…..that’s crazy. How is it that people who reside in a building get to decide who gets to live there or not?” Even some in real estate circles raised eyebrows at the rejection.

Then came the baseball connection. One clever fan turned it into a Bronx-flavored conspiracy theory: “Paul Skenes and Livvy Dunne sending the Yankees smoke signals by trying to buy Babe Ruth’s former apartment lol.” Whether it was rivalry, reputation, or real estate politics, one thing’s clear—Livvy and Paul’s attempt to claim a piece of Yankees history stirred more than just the co-op board. It lit up the internet, too.
