As we know, a fierce online feud between Simone Biles and Riley Gaines intensified after the latter criticized the Minnesota State High School League’s celebratory post for having its comments turned off, despite the team winning the Girls Softball State Championship. Gaines linked that to the inclusion of a trans athlete on their roster. But, after a series of jabs, it finally looked like things had ended when Biles apologised. However, we don’t think Riley Gaines is letting this one go easily…

4 days ago, Simone Biles cleared the air with a clarification tweet where she said, “…It didn’t help for me to get personal with Riley, for which I apologize.” Biles sounded sure that it’s the current system that doesn’t balance competitive equity and inclusivity well, which often leads to frustration. And that’s what happened to her. She said, “These are sensitive, complicated issues that I truly don’t have the answers or solutions to, but I believe it starts with empathy and respect.” But did you think this would be the end of the controversy? Not really, because do you remember that one of the harshest comments that surfaced during this online spat? Well, Riley Gaines just used that same line with a twist.

On June 13, Riley Gaines Barker added a video of herself on Instagram from the Turning Point USA event, where she was on the stage, delivering a speech. That’s when she brought up the Simone Biles comment and said, “But I think the funniest thing about this to me and her saying, bully someone your own size, which would ironically be a man….'” Gaines then stepped aside from behind the dais to complete the second half of her statement and asked, “How many men do you know…that have this.” She said that with a series of scans in one hand and the other hand holding out her belly from underneath a loose white dress, announcing that she was pregnant.

Yes, Gaines is expecting a child soon, and this news had the entire room burst with cheers and claps! It’s certain to say no one was expecting this news, or at least an announcement in this way. Later, Gaines even took to her story and added a snap of her announcement moment on the stage while writing, “Me immediately in tears when announcing this to a room full of beautiful young women🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹”

Well, just days back, Riley Gaines had accepted Simone Biles’ apology by saying, “I accept Simone’s apology for the personal attacks including the ones where she body-shamed me. I know she knows what this feels like. She’s still the greatest female gymnast of all time.” And now, it’s the same Riley who brought Biles’ comment up to give a clap back while announcing a major life update, which hints that this isn’t out of her mind yet.
