Gymnastics and Simone Biles cannot be separated. The 2025 US Classic has proved it. Following her dominant performance at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Biles has taken time off to focus on her personal life, traveling, and enjoying a break from elite competitive routine. But when you have seven Olympic gold medals in your showcase, it’s hard to keep yourself from the sports. About her participation in LA? “If I’m gonna compete again, I’m not so sure. But I will be at the Olympics—whether it’s on the floor or in the stands,” she said after winning her fourth Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year award. Fans don’t have to wait so long to see her in a gymnastics event, though. Turns out, the GOAT wasn’t done yet, the 2025 US Classic saw Simone Biles pick up right where she left off…
About an hour ago, before the Classic began, Biles was updating her Instagram stories. Her last story before the classic started featured her wearing a gray Miu Miu tank top with sleek straight hair, glossy makeup, and silver jewelry, striking a kissy-face pose. But before all of that, there was another story that read, “we’re baccckkkk” and the tagged location showed Illinois, Chicago. What followed had the fans screaming in the US Classic.
The 2025 U.S. Classic is being held at the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois (a suburb of Chicago) on July 18–19, 2025. Now, as the event unfolded on 19th July, 2025, the camera panned on a certain somebody who had the fans going gaga. USA gymnastics captured the moment and posted it on their X handle, writing, “Check out who is at #USClassic presented by Saatva!”. It was none other than Simone Biles and her husband, Jonathan Owens, marking their presence in the arena. The tweet featured her posing alongside her former teammate, Joscelyn Roberson.

The 11-time Olympic medalist also posted a picture of the NOW Arena on her Instagram story. “my lil babiessss @josc_roberson and @dulcycaylor,” she wrote in her follow-up story. She also dropped six white heart emojis as she captured the two just before they got ready to go off on the mat. Simone Biles herself has been very dominant at the US Classic, but there was one time that she let go of this dominance.
The one time Simone Biles let go of her US Classic domination
From 2018 through 2021, Simone Biles won every U.S. Classic all‑around title she entered. In 2018, Biles captured the senior women’s title with a 58.700 all‑around score. In 2019, she extended her streak with a dominating 60.000 all‑around. After a pause in 2020, the GOAT returned in 2021 and again ruled the Classic. She performed the first-ever Yurchenko double pike vault in competition, assigned a preliminary D‑score of 6.6 (the highest‑valued vault in women’s artistry), en route to winning her fifth GK U.S. Classic all‑around title. She totaled about 58.400.

Simone Biles back in action—Is she the greatest gymnast of all time, or is there more?
Have an interesting take?
She took a break from competition in 2022 to focus on her mental health in the wake of what happened at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, where she withdrew from team and individual finals due to experiencing the dangerous “twisties.” In 2023, Simone Biles returned to elite competition at the Core Hydration Classic with a dominant 59.100 all-around win—her first meet since the Tokyo Olympics—highlighted by a 15.400 Yurchenko double pike vault.
She followed that up in 2024 with an even higher 59.500, posting top scores on vault (15.600) and floor (14.800), defeating a stacked field that included Suni Lee and Gabby Douglas, and securing her seventh U.S. Classic title. She was not going to be at the 2025 US Classic as a gymnast, but her presence in supporting her teammate is heartwarming. What are your thoughts?
