Simone Biles dreams witnessed an expansion back in 2024 after she got nominated for a primetime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Series category at the 77th Emmy Awards. Her words? “I still can’t believe we’re nominated for an EMMY for Simone Biles Rising.” Even though she didn’t actually get the award for the Netflix documentary Simone Biles Rising, her emotions were unforgettable. But is the Emmy enough for her to trade one of her Olympic medals?

During a recent conversation with Gold Derby, she was asked if she would swap one of her Olympic medals to win the Emmy race. Biles laughed at the question and stated, “Unfortunately, I would not swap one of my medals, but I would love to add to the collection.” That’s the kind of love Simone Biles has for her Olympic medals.

The second part of Simone Biles: Rising was launched on 24 October 2024. And while conversing with Olympics.com the day before, on the red carpet of her Hollywood premiere, she revealed, “I was focused so much on the Olympics that whenever I watched it back, that was kind of the release that I had. I think it’s just the emotions after the Olympics – you’re at such a high and you don’t really get to release until afterwards.”

The Netflix documentary series beautifully captured the essence of Biles’ journey as an artistic gymnast. The stories revolved around Biles’ parents, Ron and Nellie Biles, and of course, her husband, Jonathan Owens. And the finale of the series was all about the Biles’ triumphs. No wonder it got nominated for an Emmy.

Now, shall we talk about her stance on the upcoming 2028 Olympic Games, too? Will she participate in the Los Angeles Olympics? Or is she going to retire?

Uncertainty revolves around Simone Biles’ 2028 Olympics stance

With 11 Olympic medals in her cabinet, it seems like Simone Biles is finally pushing her brakes. She recently stated, “I’ve accomplished so much. There’s almost nothing left to do, rather than to just be snobby and to try again and for what? I’m at a point in my career where I’m humble enough to know when to be done.”

While Biles was ready to sacrifice the Emmy to keep her Olympic medals, there were some sacrifices that she’s unwilling to make to enlarge her collection. “If you go back, you’ll be greedy. Those are the consequences. But that’s also your decision to decide. What sacrifices would be made if I go back now? When you’re younger, it’s like, prom, college. Now it’s like, starting a family, being away from my husband. What’s really worth it,” exclaimed Biles.

Nevertheless, there’s still a bit of hope. It’s really unlikely for her to miss out on the Olympics when her hometown is going to host the games. But we might have to leave that decision to the ticking of time.
