“First week in the books and I’m feeling great”– Stephen Nedoroscik’s words when he finally got back in the gym after his Dancing With The Stars stint. Notably, ever since the ‘Pommel Horse Guy’ resumed training, he has been very picky with providing updates. But today, eight weeks later, he has unexpectedly surprised us with one. This time, it’s so momentous that the news already has one of Simone Biles’ former teammates reacting to it. Any guesses what that could be?

Stephen Nedoroscik has remained distant from the gymnastics mats for quite a while. After the Paris Olympics, where we last saw him compete, he signed up for the dance reality show, DWTS Season 33. Although we saw him tease his fans with a few gymnastics cameos here and there and a practice video that he captioned, “Don’t worry guys, I can still gymnastics a little.” But no real updates came along. He then sat out of the 2025 Pan American Championships, mounting tensions. But not anymore, as we finally know, neither has he stopped practicing, nor has his form fizzled out.

Yes, on June 28, Stephen Nedoroscik took to Instagram and casually dropped an update about his gymnastics training. The Pommel Horse specialist shared a video of himself pulling off a full routine on his favorite apparatus, with Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Dark Necessities playing in the background and a text that read: “Day 40, cleanest routine since the Olympics.” This means that the gymnast is back on the practice mats in full swing.

In fact, Nedoroscik went on to share more in the caption, “Back to routines, feels great to hit a couple my first week back to sending full sets!!” Well, he seems to be working on that rusty form, and it’s finally starting to look better. But there’s still a long way to go as Stephen Nedoroscik confirmed, “I missed the E dismount (-.2) and two Russians in my flop (-.2),” which means his score was a solid 14.9.

Still, for day 40 of being back, that’s no small feat. Thus, looking at this improved form, one of Simone Biles‘ ex-teammates from the Rio Olympics squad, Laurie Hernandez, reacted in the comments. She dropped a strong 3-word message, “Let’s freaking GO,” in her bid to cheer for the gymnast. Well, looks like Stephen Nedoroscik’s form truly got her excited that big things might be on their way this season.

Well, if you think this is the first time Laurie is reacting to Stephen Nedoroscik’s gymnastics heroics, here’s a bit of a flashback. Back in August 2024, when the Team USA gymnast had freshly clinched his first individual Olympic medal, Laurie had dropped an X post congratulating him. “Let’s go, horse boy!” she wrote. Soon, when he took the internet by storm with his dance moves, Laurie, being the 2016 DWTS winner herself, sent a customized pack of goodies for him. First-aid kits, cleansing melts, and Lola blankets are so much more featured in that hamper that had Stephen Nedoroscik go, “HUGE shoutout to @lauriehernandez!! your DWTS survival kit is so much appreciated.”

Well, now that you know more about the dynamics these two share, let’s come back to the news of the hour: Stephen Nedoroscik has resumed full routine training. Surely, this is a great sign for all that’s about to come in the future.

Stephen Nedoroscik might be getting back sooner than you think

If we closely follow the trajectory of Stephen Nedoroscik’s social media updates, we’ll notice there hasn’t been much confirmation about his core season plans. However, we’ve at least been kept posted on his latest gymnastics updates. For example, on May 7, he dropped a video of how rusty his first few days back on the pommel horse looked. Perfection aside, it at least updated us that he is back in the gym.

Things started looking more hopeful as he posted about his contract renewal with EVO gymnastics a few days later, on May 13. That very day, he also gave us a recap of how his first week back on the pommel horse turned out ot be. While these drew us closer to the conclusion that he is putting in the long hours on the apparatus, he confirmed the same with yet another social media update in the coming days.

Around June 9, Stephen Nedoroscik added an Instagram story where he was back on the pommel horse, pulling off a routine with great dedication. He captioned it, “Something a lil different,” so as to hint that he was experimenting with his gymnastics moves. That was cryptic for sure. But now, what he just posted about his cleanest routine in over 8 months is absolutely direct. Clearly, he is getting deeper into that core form, and his well-wishers like Laurie Hernandez are loving it!
