At the Tokyo Olympics 2020, all eyes were on the young Filipino gymnast tipped to deliver his country’s first Olympic gymnastics medal. But destiny had other plans. A rare misstep kept him out of the floor exercise final—his strongest event—and though he pushed through to the vault final, he finished agonizingly close to the podium in 4th place. No medal. No celebration. Just a silent promise to return stronger. Fast forward to Paris 2024: promise fulfilled. 15.000 in the floor exercise. 15.116 in the vault final. Two gold medals. Carlos Yulo didn’t just rewrite the narrative—he made history as the first Filipino to win Olympic gold in gymnastics… twice.

Shortly after receiving his second Olympic gold medal, Carlos Yulo would go on to share this glory with everyone. She said in his native language, which translates to, “Of course, I want gymnastics to grow in the Philippines… I want kids to try gymnastics, that’s what I would like.” Guess what? His dream might be coming true!

With God, everything is possible” were the words on Carlos Yulo’s recent Instagram story. The picture above the text showed Yulo and a man sitting next to each other. Both smiling at the camera appear to be signing documents on clipboards. The man on the left is wearing a gray blazer over a light pink shirt, and the man on the right, our Olympic gold medalist, is in a casual white t-shirt with glasses. Both have pens in hand and appear to be involved in a formal signing or agreement. So, what is Yulo upto this time?

Well, the answer lies in the backdrop of the image itself. Behind the two men is a banner with the logo and name, Filinvest City– a clear clue! So, a prominent real estate and investment company in the Philippines is currently developing Filinvest City: a world-class sports hub located in the heart of Metro South. As per reports, this project aims to support multiple sports and strengthen the nation’s athletic infrastructure. And Yulo? He’s not just posing in front of it — he’s officially part of it.

As part of the project, a dedicated gymnastics facility will be developed in partnership with Carlos Yulo, with the goal of nurturing future champions and inspiring the next generation of Filipino athletes. On May 16, 2025, Yulo met with Don Ubaldo, Head of Filinvest Townships, to formalize the collaboration. For the two-time Olympic gold medalist, it’s more than just a facility — it’s the beginning of a lifelong dream taking shape.
