Archery has been ever-present in the Summer Olympics since 1972. In London Olympics 2012, four archery events were part of the Olympic program.

At Summer Olympics, only the recurve archery discipline is included. 128 archers from around the world competed in London. The mixed team event is the newest addition to the archery event at the Tokyo Olympics.

South Korea’s archery team continued its dominance in the sport, followed by Italy and China. Unexpectedly, USA finished in the sixth position.

South Korean archers shine in London

The Korean team clean swept the gold medals in individual events, while successfully reached the podium in all four events.

Oh Jin-hyek clinched the gold in archery men’s individual event, whereas Ki Bo-bae won in women’s individual event. On the other hand, in the team events, South Korea?clinched the gold in the women’s event and bronze in the men’s event.

South Korea leads the medal charts with the most number of Olympic medals in archery. Followed by USA in the second position. However, in London Olympics, US archers did not have their best outing.
