Simone Biles Creates History Before the Start of Tokyo Olympics – Becomes First Female Athlete to Receive Her Own Emoji and Hashtag

Twitter has honored the G.O.A.T. of gymnastics, with her very own Twitter hashtag. Making her the first female athlete and first Olympic athlete to get this treatment. Simone Biles is one of the most decorated gymnasts the sport has ever seen.

The 24-year-old will look to make history at the Olympics yet again and go for all 4 individual golds and the team gold. She said she feels like she is in the best shape of her life. All eyes will be on her during the gymnastics events.

A custom hashtag emoji for Simone Biles

Just days before Simone Biles gets to compete at the Olympics, she created a piece of history. The social media platform Twitter announced that they had created a custom hashtag emoji for the American. This is the first time Twitter has given this treatment to an Olympian.

Then again, Simone Biles is no ordinary Olympian. In her recent competitions, Biles has been sporting leotards with a bedazzled goat, nicknamed Goldie. This is a cheeky acknowledgment of her status as the Greatest Of All Time (GOAT).

So naturally, the custom hashtag emoji for Simone Biles is an adorable goat. We see the goat wearing a leotard, doing a split leap, just like Biles does on the balance beam. Simone Biles was the second most talked-about athlete on Twitter.

Japanese swimmer Rikako Ikee was the most talked-about athlete.

Over the years, Twitter has released many custom hashtags and emojis for athletes, companies, and countries. Leading up to the Tokyo Olympics 2020, they have released quite a few custom hashtag Emojis for countries.

Four countries have custom hashtag emojis, USA, UK, Canada, and India. 

Before every major sporting event, Twitter comes out with the Custom hashtag Emojis. The Super Bowl and World cup are two other such examples. Partner companies also receive their own special emoji.
