Allyson Felix is heading to the Tokyo Olympics to represent the USA for the fifth consecutive edition and aims to win yet another medal to make her the most decorated female athlete in the country?s history. However, this time she goes to the Games not only as an athlete but also as a mother.?

The nine-time Olympic medallist gave birth to her daughter in 2018, an event that was a near-death experience and almost ended her illustrious career as an athlete. The bond she now shares with her daughter is unbreakable, and little Camryn is a constant feature in every one of her competitions.?

Leaving her daughter behind for the Games, Felix has never felt more separated. As part of a promotion for Pantene, the athlete shared a picture of a light-hearted moment with her daughter.

?My mom taught me how to take care of my hair, and now it’s something I get to teach my daughter,? she wrote. “Time spent doing her hair is time I wouldn’t trade for anything, just like I wouldn’t trade the time my mom spent doing mine. And that’s part of my legacy.?

As someone close to her daughter, Felix found herself having to spend the most time away from Camryn as she ever has.?

“My heart aches leaving Cammy today to head to Tokyo. It will be the longest we?ve ever been apart,? she revealed in an Instagram post. ?But, the fight to get to this point has shown me my strength and I?m excited for all the reasons I?m running- for greater equity for each of us and for women. One day when I tell her this story I know she will be proud of her Mama.?

Allyson Felix has used the opportunity of what may be her final Olympic Games to promote her new brand ?Saysh?, which was built with the purpose of empowering female athletes. Wearing custom spikes, she will be the first-ever athlete to compete in the Olympics with a self-branded set of spikes.?
