Tokyo Olympics 2020 has finally ended, and it has been record-breaking. Athletes from all around the world have clinched medals portraying the diversity at mega quadrennial games.

For the first time in Olympic history breaking earlier medal haul records, 86 countries have bagged medals. Winning a medal is rewarding for athletes and nothing can match the happiness of being on the Olympic podium.

However, these athletes make their nations proud, and in return, countries reward them with cash. It can be assumed that western countries like the USA or Russian athletes will be the highest-paid. Interestingly, Indian athletes are going to receive the highest prize money for Olympic medals.

Indian athletes who clinched Olympic medals paid the highest cash rewards

India has clinched its highest medal haul of seven medals, finishing at the 48th position in the tally. Different Indian states had announced cash rewards for their athletes. The range of cash rewards is from $33,607 to $8,06,657 USD.

India’s lone gold medal winner Neeraj Chopra will receive prize money of $806,657 USD from his state. Whereas the bronze medalists from Indian states, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh will receive $336,073 USD.

Tokyo Olympics 2020 Indonesian athletes getting rewards higher than USA athletes

Indonesia will reward its gold medal winners with $746,000 and silver medalists with $378,000 USD. While Singapore and Hong Kong will give their gold medal stars $735,000 USD and $644,000 USD, respectively.

Indonesian athletes clinched five medals in Tokyo, 1 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze, whereas Hong Kong won 6 medals. Unfortunately, Singapore athletes couldn’t grab any medals at the mega-event.

Notably Olympic gold medalists from team USA will receive a cash prize of $37, 500. Kazakhstan and Italy have announced $250,000 and $166,000, respectively.

Russian athletes were banned to use the nation’s name in Tokyo and represented the Russian Olympic committee. However, the nation will reward gold medal winners with $61,000.

Team USA has topped the medal tally at Tokyo Olympics 2020 with 113 medals. While China finished at the second position with just one gold medal less than the USA, and 88 in total. Notably, host nation Japan finished in the third position with 58 medals followed by Great Britain and ROC.
