Hilary Knight has had a remarkable Winter Olympics campaign so far. She has led the USA women’s team to their seventh final and they will be taking on Canada in the gold medal clash on February 19. Notably, she had already announced in December 2025 that this will be her fifth and final Olympics campaign, so the stakes indeed are quite high. However, Hilary has decided to take a major life decision right ahead of the monumental clash.

She has proposed to her long-time partner Brittany Bowe and the duo have taken the next step in their relationship. The couple had started dating during the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
Like Hilary, Brittany has also been representing USA at Milan Cortina. The speed skater gave valiant performances in both the women’s 1000 meters and women’s team pursuit but missed out on the podium by a whisker and finished fourth in the events.
Even if she leaves Italy without any medals, she will have a reason to fondly look back at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The two made the heartwarming announcement by uploading a video on their respective Instagram handles. In the video, Hilary can be seen going down on one knee with the ring in her hand as Brittany smiles and accepts her proposal. The post was captioned as, “Olympics brought us together. This one made us forever.”

Brittany’s recent comments on the relationship highlight just how far the two have come.
Hilary and Brittany make the proposal public
She had said that meeting Hilary was her “biggest win” in Beijing even though she had clinched a bronze medal in women’s 1000 meters during the games. She had further revealed how their first date went.
“That was the biggest win coming out of Beijing for sure,” Bowe told People Magazine. Hilary and I have known each other for a number of years through different Team USA events, a number of different Olympics, but that’s the first time we really did have time to connect and get to know one another. And it was everything other than glamorous, that’s for sure! Hilary would ask, like, ‘Oh, do you want to go for a walk after dinner?’ And that was our first date, going to walk around the Olympic Village masked because everyone was so fearful of getting COVID,” she added.
The couple had relocated after moving back to USA from Beijing and now share a home in Salt Lake City. Though the 2022 Winter Olympics will always remain memorable for the duo, they will be hoping to end their time in Italy on a high as well. The two have brought home a total of six Olympic medals so far and that tally is all set to increase.
This is due to the fact that Hilary is guaranteed of a medal as she leads USA against Canada in the women’s ice hockey final. On the other hand, the situation isn’t the same for Brittany as she will have her final shot at a podium with the women’s 1500-meter race that will be held on Friday, February 20.
