Simone Biles made headlines earlier this week as the Tokyo Olympics entered Week 1 of operations. The Team USA gymnast caused major shockwaves when she decided to opt out of the team finals event and the all-around event at the ongoing Summer Games in Japan.
Biles is regarded as the most decorated American gymnast of all time. At just 24, she has a combined total of 31 Olympic and World Championship medals to her name already. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, Biles won individual gold medals in all-around, vault, and floor events. She won bronze in balance beam and gold as part of Team USA’s “Final Five”.
Her decision to back off from the final due to her personal mental health concerns was met with a ton of support on social media. Former Olympics, public figures, fellow athletes and fans, all flocked to offer their support to the Ohio-born gymnast.

He captioned that post with a rather insensitive statement that read ‘Contrast this with our selfish, childish national embarrassment, Simone Biles.’

“My personal social media comments do not represent Attorney General Paxton or the office of the attorney general. In a moment of frustration and disappointment, I opined on subjects for which I am not adequately versed. That was an error. I can’t imagine what Simone Biles has gone through,” Reitz mentioned in a post on Twitter.
