This Summer’s Tokyo Olympics Games 2020 is turning out to be an exciting affair. Athletes across the globe are risking their personal safety and that of their families in order to bring glory to their respective countries. One such person on that list is Team Great Britain cyclist Tom Pidcock.

He competes in the cyclo-cross, mountain bike and road bicycle racing disciplines of the sport.

It is important to note is that Pidcock arrived at this year’s Summer Games on the back of a nasty injury he suffered while training around Font-Romeu-Odeillo-Via.  But that did not stop him from battling against all odds and win major honours in the mountain biking event on Monday at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics 2020.

United Kingdom cyclist, Tom Pidcock, spent two weeks in Tokyo’s humid climate prior to the Olympics. He was training in a heated tent before departure and spent his time in Japan studying the course. His efforts bore fruit as the 21-year old from Leeds bagged an Olympic gold medal on Day 3 of the quadrennial showpiece.

“Honestly, I think I was born to do mountain bike…It’s pretty crazy that I became an Olympian, and I was trying to tell myself at the start of the race it’s special just to be here.”

“I haven’t done a good race since [the injury],” Pidcock added. “I’ve trained really hard, I knew I was in great shape but there’s always doubt when I haven’t performed in a race.”

“But once the race started, I knew I was in a good place. The heat, I mean, obviously I didn’t feel good but everyone just told me no-one will feel good,” Pidcock said via YahooNews.
