VIDEO: Tokyo Olympics 2020 Gold Medalist Katie Ledecky’s First Ever TV Appearance at the Age of One

American swimmer Katie Ledecky was the favorite to clinch a medal at Tokyo Olympics 2020. Expectedly, Katie produced a stellar performance at the mega-event. USA’s decorated swimmer secured four medals in Tokyo.

At 24, Ledecky already has 10 Olympic medals, out of which seven are gold. Since her maiden Olympics in 2012, Katie is a star, as she clinched her first gold medal at 15.
While now watching her on TV star-struck her fans, the young swimmer made her TV debut way back. At the age of one, Katie made her first TV appearance. Fourteen years later, she became the Olympic champion.

After her Tokyo Olympics 2020 phenomenal campaign, Katie visited the Today show. Although it was not the swimmer’s first visit to the plaza. In 1998, Katie had already appeared on the show. Here is the video of a one-year-old American star waving at the camera.

While Katie was too young to remember the whole camera appearance, her mom had told her the story. On Today show, she says, “My grandma is in New York, so my mom was telling me this story. She remembers the cab ride she took over here. I was up early in the morning so she said let’s go down to the plaza.”

Fourteen years later American star is the best female swimmer in the world
Katie Ledecky alone won four medals at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 in swimming. Ledecky is the dominator in swimming as she secured gold medals in women’s 1500m freestyle swimming and women’s 800m freestyle swimming.

Adding to her medal tally, she also secured the silver medals in women’s 400*200m freestyle relay and women’s 400m freestyle race. In the 2012 London Olympics, she entered as an unknown face and won her first Olympic gold medal.

While many win Olympic golds every four years, there are a few who can maintain their title. Going back to Rio Olympics at 19, Ledecky grabbed five Olympic medals. Out of these five glories, four medals were gold.
