The USWNT and its players are hot favorites to win the Olympic Gold in Tokyo this year. Having won the World Cup in 2019, they aim to become only the fourth team in history to add on to World Cup success with Olympic gold.

However, things haven’t been so easy for star player Alex Morgan this year or the last. Giving birth to a daughter, contracting COVID-19, and the intense training that came after really took its toll on her physically and mentally. She proved to come out of it stronger than ever and aims to work as an example for her daughter Charlie.

“I’m here representing all the future moms and I’m trying to show that we can do it all as challenging as it is,” Morgan said, speaking on Good Morning America. “You have to figure it out you have to be mom and a professional athlete. There’s a lot of athletes going to Tokyo that are also fellow mom athletes and I’m excited to catch up with them and kind of just represent all the moms, soccer moms united.”

The USWNT star has had a memorable career and has been with the team every step of the way in its rise to world domination. Alongside Megan Rapinoe, Carli Lloyd, Christen Press, Tobin Heath, and more, Morgan can now aim for what could be her second Olympic Gold.

This dream was almost called off due to her pregnancy last year, but the postponing of the event due to the pandemic was a stroke of luck to her. She will now compete with some of the best attacking support the team has ever seen in hopes of more glory.

Having survived a near-death pregnancy experience not too long ago, Felix is set to prove her strength to the world again. She too wants to teach her daughter a valuable lesson through this and running on those tracks after what she’s been through is as big a statement as anyone can make.
