And even fewer can claim to be multiple-time champions. The likes of US swimming legend Michael Phelps, Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, and Gymnast Larisa Latynina are some names that come to mind under this category.?
But there’s another US athlete who belongs to this category. And her name is Misty May-Treanor, wife of MLB superstar Matt Treanor.?
Three Olympic gold medals in the bag for Misty May-Treanor
Few Olympians can claim to have won not one but three Olympic Golds. USA’s Misty May-Treanor falls under that category.
Starting off as an indoor volleyball player, May-Treanor switched to Beach Volleyball alongside teammate Kerri Walsh Jennings before the turn of the millennium. A transition that proved to be vital to their careers.?

The pair represented the United States in three back-to-back Olympic Games and managed to claim a medal each time they competed. In one of the most impressive runs of all time, between 2004-2012 the duo won three gold medals. That’s a hattrick of medals without breaking a sweat.?
What’s even more impressive about their accomplishment is the fact the duo didn’t lose a single game en route to their three Gold medals. Not even in the prelims. Talk about dominance!
May-Treanor’s life off the court & marriage to MLB star Matt Treanor
May-Treanor met former MLB star Matt Treanor in 2003 and ultimately married the pitcher in November 2004. The couple had their first child, Malia Barbara, on June 3, 2014.

The Treanor’s are now a family of 5 as the couple had a pair of twin girls in 2017. Named Mele Elizarin and Mia Kanoelani, one might think that at least one of Treanor’s offspring might follow the path of their superstar mother.?

Apart from Beach Volleyball, Misty May-Treanor has also featured in countless TV shows. CSI: Miami, Dancing with the Stars, and the Wizards of Waverley Place are just some of the shows she’s made appearances on.?
Now retired, May-Treanor continues to serve as an inspiration for Beach Volleyball aspirants across the globe.?
