At the Tokyo Olympics 2020, the German equestrian dressage team registered a wonderful performance. Germany’s current dressage team represents a golden generation of sorts. With twelve-time Olympic medalist Isabell Werth in their squad, the dressage scenario in Germany is booming. This doesn’t mean their opponents are getting less competitive. The British dressage team’s primary goal was to take down the German’s, and not return home with a medal.

While the Germans trounced their competition, they did so with a certain grace and poise. Dorothee Schneider laid the foundation first, only for Isabell Werth to stake her claim on the gold medal with an astounding performance with Bella Rose 2. Then came Jessica Von Bredow- Werndl, who scored an epic 84.666% to collect Germany’s gold.

After their historic performance, the German team sat down for the press conference where a reporter tossed up a funny question. Upon being asked whether winning gold all the time has become boring, Isabell Werth had a sharp response. “Winning a gold is never boring. It’s always good and we must always celebrate. We’ll get about half an hour at the stables to enjoy ourselves.”
Dorothee Schneider threw in her two cents too. “It’s never boring to win a medal, and especially a gold medal. So I’m not bored at all and we are really happy and especially we are happy that we fed up the expectations. I’m really happy and yeah, ready for a drink I would say.”
