This year’s Tokyo Olympics Games were truly one in a million. The quadrennial showpiece proved to be the perfect distraction for a world that was in desperate need for a ‘pick me up’. Countless athletes emerged from the shadows in the last month and are now global superstars.

The likes of Simone Biles, Naomi Osaka, Katie Ledecky, and others, are just a few of the role models from Tokyo that kids can look up to. One other starlet that made their debut in Japan was American equestrian rider, Jessica Springsteen.

Jessica Springsteen, who turns 30 in December, won silver in the team equestrian event at the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics 2020. The Los Angeles-born starkid was quick to pay tribute to her darling horse, Don Juan van de Donkhoeve.

“Don is a really talented horse, and we have formed a solid partnership over the past two years. If there’s a weak point I might think we have, we will practice it at home, but mainly I’m just exercising him to get him in peak condition.”

“He has a lot of energy, so I work towards getting him as relaxed as possible, so he’s focused and we’re in sync when we compete,” Springsteen said in an earlier interview with Vogue magazine.

Father Bruce was visibly over the moon when he saw his daughter confirm her status as an Olympian medalist. In the qualifying round of the individual jumping event, Springsteen finished equal 31st. However, only the top 30 advanced to the medals round and she failed to crack that barrier.

It will be interesting to see if Jessica returns with the American equestrian riding contingent for Paris 2024. Who knows, maybe daddy Bruce will come along for moral support this time and hold an impromptu concert for his fansin Europe.
