Fred Kerley has found himself in deep trouble yet again! With the Olympic bronze medalist all set to appear in the Grand Slam Track in Miami, things have gone south for the sprinter. His maiden appearance of the season in the men’s 100m at the Trojan Invitational, was underwhelming at best. He clocked 10.23s to secure the first place, but his timing was far from ideal. However, Kerley bounced back. Clocking a timing of 44.73s, Kerley won the 400m event at the Mt. SAC Relays, sending strong signals to his competitors. Now, with Kerley set to compete in the 100m and 200m events of the Grand Slam Track, and things finally looking good, the Olympian has hit yet another bumper.

According to recent updates, Fred Kerley has been arrested by the police! Kerley was accused of allegedly hitting his ex-girlfriend, Alaysha Johnson, in the face. Johnson is an Olympic athlete herself, specializing in short-distance hurdles. Currently, she is ranked no.10 in 100m hurdles. As per the reports, Johnson and Kerley both were at the same hotel to participate in the Grand Slam Track. Johnson mentioned that she was going for an appointment with her conditioning coach when she ran into Kerley. And it only got worse thereon.

The report further mentioned that Johnson accused Kerley of hitting her in the face once. This caused her nose to bleed. And this allegedly caused Kerley to become more aggressive as he continued to approach her. On the flip side, during all the fiasco, Kerley could be seen dropping some cryptic messages on social media. In one of his stories on Instagram, Kerley wrote, “Shalom.” And if this was not confusing enough, one more of his stories had a message that read, “at the end of the day, the realest person you got in life is yourself.” Surely, this can be assumed as an attempt from Kerley to prove that he was not at fault.

Unfortunately, things are looking quite somber for the Olympian. Looking a closer glance at the report, it was found that the juries too, had put forth their initial impressions. And it clearly stated that they did find Johnson’s statements as consistent. The 29-year-old athlete was charged with a count of battery-touch or strike.” Moreover, Grand Slam Track too, confirmed the news of Kerley missing out on the Miami edition. “Fred Kerley was arrested last night. The matter is under active investigation, and all inquiries should be directed to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office,” The official social media handle of Grand Slam Track said in a statement. “Fred will not compete this weekend. We have no further comment at this time.” Surely, with all the chaos happening around Kerley recently, it is only derailing his career further.

Fred Kerley’s Career In Serious Trouble Due To Outside Noise

Fred Kerley has been constantly making the headlines. Unfortunately, for all the wrong reasons. Initially, the athlete had a spat with his sponsor, ASICS. At the New York Grand Prix, the sprinter was spotted wearing Puma spikes, having forgotten his ASICS pair at the airport. This incident left the sprinter without a sponsor for a long time. At the Grand Slam Track, Kingston edition, Kerley admitted to representing his coach’s brand in an interview with LetsRun.com.

Next up, Kerley also got involved in a big feud with Noah Lyles. Trying to compare both, Kerley opined that Lyles was never on his level. Kerley further went on to say that if the number of wins are to be compared then it will be clear who was the better athlete among the two. And now, with Kerley facing a serious assault charge, things are looking quite problematic for him. With him already hitting some moderate timings this season, what is next for the Texan? A grand comeback? We can only hope!
