Noah Lyles is coming straight out of shutting his haters in the USATF championships, but this one problem is bugging the Olympian.

The 2023 World Champion opened the USATF Championships by cruising through the 100m heats in 10.05s, then skipped the semifinals to save energy, as he already had a World Championships spot. In the 200m, he stormed to victory in 19.63s, the fastest time in the world this year, just edging Kenny Bednarek, not to mention the stare down and push. But that is not the problem for him, as the two have already sorted that out. The immediate headache of the 2025 National champion comes from Delta Airlines.

He shared a post on X on August 11. Flight getting canceled🤦🏾‍♂️Hope the hotel gym got enough for a workout.” Lyles is set to face a stacked field in the Silesia Diamond League. There is no debate that when he came back from injuries this season, he came back jacked. So, he needs the practice and the gym. And amidst that, getting your flight canceled and plans changed will understandably be frustrating.

Lyles did get a flight today, though; the frustrations are not yet over.

Meanwhile, Screentime announced via X today that Crunchyroll has partnered up with Delta Airlines to allow passengers to watch anime during flights on seatback screens. As per the tweet, 50,000+ episodes and films” plus 25,000+ hours of content.” This Crunchyroll–Delta Airlines deal mainly solves a passenger entertainment gap problem, the very one Noah Lyes was suffering from.

Replying to this tweet, the Olympian wrote, When this start. I’m on a long delta flight right now and need me some anime to get me through.” The 28-year-old would have loved for this deal to start then and there if it were in his hands. Noah Lyles is not just a track star but also an avid anime and manga fan. His favorite series? Fullmetal Alchemist, both the original and Brotherhood versions.

He’s even been spotted pulling out Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, like the legendary Blue-Eyes White Dragon, before racing to hype himself up. After winning Olympic gold, Lyles celebrated with a Dragon Ball Z Kamehameha pose, paying homage to Goku and creator Akira Toriyama. In fact, he stepped out onto the track at Doha 2019 with silver hair in tribute to one of the most popular anime characters: Goku from Dragon Ball Z.

That’s not it… Noah Lyles is also a big fantasy fiction fan.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Noah Lyles' anime obsession the secret to his track success, or just a quirky hobby?

Have an interesting take?

But now the question is: Where was he flying to? Most probably to Silesia for his next track stop.

Noah Lyles to face Kishane Thompson again

On August 16, at the Diamond League in Silesia, Noah Lyles will face Kishane Thompson in the 100 meters. This will be the Polish debut of the sprinting great and a rematch the Jamaican has been waiting for since the Paris Olympics.

Recently, in an interview, the Jamaican had said, “I’m a very competitive person. I might not show it, but when it comes to competing with a phenomenal person, I think he’s a phenomenal athlete,  great rival. So, yeah, of course, when he’s ready to step back on the track and we meet, it’s going to be fireworks for sure.”

Kenny Bednarek will also be in the field, and it will be an Olympic rematch for him as well. Bednarek competed in the men’s 100-meter final at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He finished in seventh place with a time of 9.88 seconds. Plus, the track and field athlete who has lost only the 100m race this season, Akani Simbine, is also going to be there.

Christian Coleman might pull off a shocker there. Other than that, Trayvon Bromell, Courtney Lindsey, Ackeem Blake, and Oliwer Wdowik are also in the race.
