Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce is looking determined to finish her endgame on a high. In just a matter of a few years, the Jamaican has seen it all. Unfortunately, on a whim, things turned upside down. Missing the Olympics, Fraser-Pryce is now fighting for redemption. However, while time usually waits for no one, this Jamaican has defied all logic. At 38, looking to make a comeback to mainstream sprinting, Fraser-Pryce is getting competitive out there. 

Now then, her pledge to come back is not just a wish. Running in the Velocity Fest 17 in Kingston, Fraser-Pryce proved it as well. Dropping a 10.94s in the 100m, the Jamaican sent a strong message to her competitors. Now, there might be arguments about whether the time she ran was not up to the mark. But as it turns out, it was just the season opener. And sprinters like Fraser-Pryce are not known to go all-out from Day 1.

Surely, ‘Momma Rocket’ looks well on course for her redemption season.  Speaking about her dreams with the sport going forward, Fraser-Pryce stated that she has a good understanding of the sport. She fathoms how big a platform the sport provides for the athletes to showcase their talents. And thus, taking the opportunity, she wants to lead the next generation by example.

“I’ve been blessed to compete at the highest level for many years, and with that comes a responsibility to lead, inspire, and uplift the next generation, especially young girls who dream of becoming athletes, mothers, and business leaders. That legacy continues to drive me,” said Fraser-Pryce. And she was not done yet. The Jamaican star also had a strong statement about how her mindset is coming into the season. 

Fraser-Pryce mentioned how she is all determined and focused this season. Looking to make a strong impact in the upcoming Diamond League, the Jamaican sensation stated, “My focus remains sharp, and I approach this season with the same levels of discipline, passion, and determination that have defined my career. Every race is an opportunity, and I’m committed to making each one count.”

Surely, such a statement reflects her ironclad mentality and the zeal to succeed at the highest level. And the hunger is even more at the moment, as this might be potentially her last season.

She did line up at the Games, advancing out of the 100m heats.

However, Shelly-Ann withdrew before the semifinals without explanation. That quiet exit only deepened the feeling that something was left behind on the track. Now, 2025 becomes a farewell tour with edge, not just to celebrate a decorated legacy, but perhaps to chase what slipped away in Paris.
