“I take pride in doing what’s right for athletes,” said former 100m World Champion Sha’Carri Richardson back in May, as reports surfaced that she’s joining Alexis Ohanian’s all-women track-and-field venture. According to insiders, Richardson is among the select few personally approached by the Reddit co-founder to serve as a part-owner or advisory board member. Is Sha’Carri Richardson Racing in Athlos NYC 2025?

“Joining ATHLOS as an advisor-owner gives me the opportunity to create something that genuinely empowers people both on and off the track,” Richardson told ESPN in a statement back in May. She was originally slated to compete in Athlos 2025, but her name has yet to appear on the event’s official website. Reports indicate that the former 100m world champion has joined Athlos as a part-owner rather than as a competing athlete.

“Gabby, Sha’Carri, and Tara represent a new generation of athletes who have put this sport on their shoulders and deserve to be compensated for being the standard-bearers,” said Alexis Ohanian. “We were focused on bringing them into the league as founding owners to ensure we’re building a League that our athletes will love.” Richardson’s investment and involvement were also highlighted by her collaboration with Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit, who is part of the league’s ownership and advisory group.

While some media outlets initially speculated about her competing in 2025, the majority of reports clarify that her participation in NYC will be off the track, leaving room for her potential racing debut in future seasons. Based on the current evidence, Sha’Carri Richardson is unlikely to compete as an athlete in Athlos NYC 2025. Her involvement this season appears to be focused on leadership, advisory, and team-building capacities rather than racing.
