Did you know that IShowSpeed (Darren Jason Watkins Jr.) once tested his speed against none other than 200m world champion Noah Lyles? In a 50m dash, the YouTube star held his own against the Olympic great. While Lyles’ victory was no surprise, even he admitted that Speed showed real potential. At just 20, he might be the most athletic content creator out there. And guess what? Speed’s sprinting even made Tom Brady lose his mind.

Seven-time Super Bowl champion and record-breaking quarterback Tom Brady has witnessed every form of athletic brilliance – from blazing speed to raw power. Yet even he was left visibly stunned when IShowSpeed put his sprinting skills on display. In his latest YouTube video, “Speed Goes Pro Episode 1: Tom Brady,” the 20-year-old phenom teamed up with Brady and former Patriots star Danny Amendola to test himself in the iconic 40-yard dash. His goal?

To shatter the 4.50-second barrier, the unofficial benchmark of NFL-ready speed. Speed has already bagged bragging rights over the likes of Jaylen Brown, Robert Griffin III, and Ashton Hall, proving he’s no ordinary streamer. On the day of the final test, the athlete barely made an impression in his first three attempts. But on the fourth, he stunned everyone.

Blazing a 4.49 that drew an uncharacteristic outburst from Brady, who exclaimed in disbelief, “He did it,” IShowSpeed ran like a cheetah possessed. Yet that wasn’t the only shocker. Just minutes later, Speed left the NFL legend speechless again, soaring for a jaw-dropping 40-inch vertical during the same training session, which forced the NFL legend to break his character and look in astonishment, “Oh my God. That’s unbelievable,” Brady said, shaking his head in amazement. “That’s insane.”

As the 25-minute premiere drew to a close, Tom Brady had one final surprise up his sleeve. He gifted Speed a treasure any football fan would dream of, a signed 2002 Cristiano Ronaldo rookie card. For a streamer whose love for CR7 is practically legendary, the moment left him stunned, almost speechless. After his initial episode, the YouTuber is planning to bring in several greats from the sports world.

From Kevin Durant’s court to Sauce Gardner’s gridiron, Olympic champion Suni Lee’s arena to WWE legend Randy Orton’s ring, and even the competitive eating stage of Joey Chestnut, the six-part series, powered by OBB Media and DICK’S Sporting Goods, promises one crossover after another. And to set the tone, it all began with the GOAT himself, Tom Brady. Well, as the 20-year-old made highlights through his athleticism, the fans had their opinion, and it’s quite diverging.

Fans react in splits as IShowSpeed shocks Tom Brady with his athleticism

Starting off, a social media user criticized Speed for his 40m dash,  “4.49 and bro thinks he’s faster than Olympic sprinters.” Why? Well, Speed is fiercely competitive and challenges everyone. After his defeat to Noah Lyles, the Olympic champion himself saw potential in him, stating, “You should practice with me and then at the end of the week, we’ll race again. You’ll be faster, you’ll know what to do, you’ll have the techniques, you’ll have the advantage. Then we can run the real man’s race, the 100 (meters).” Speed even challenged Sha’Carri Richardson for a run, but she refused, stating she “doesn’t run for free.”

Refuting the initial criticism, one fan believed the YouTuber could achieve great things if he focused on athletics: “That’s actually crazy imagine he took athletics seriously.” Truth be told, Speed recently defeated Amir Ahmed, a standout Portland State Viking, in a race in Portland. Supporting this, another fan added, “Unironically the most athletic streamer.”

Another wave of criticism came when Speed expressed interest in racing NFL star Tyreek Hill: “Wait, I thought he was fast and wanted to race Tyreek??? Am I mistaken Tyreek would dust his a–“ Hill, known for his lightning-fast sprints, challenged IShowSpeed, though Speed has yet to respond.

Amid fan indecision, one supporter reminded everyone that Speed isn’t a professional and trains on his own, yet still achieves feats most athletes find extremely difficult, “4.4 as a non-trained guy is actually really impressive, I don’t think y’all understand this lmao.” Finally, one fan was nonchalant but impressed, “4.49 with Tom Brady watching?? Speed just stamped his NFL Combine invite.”

With his back-to-back showdowns against professional athletes, IShowSpeed is proving he’s no pro yet, but has the potential to outshine many. Tom Brady seemed to give him a pass in the first episode, leaving the real test: earning the stamp of approval from the other athletes. Will he manage it? Only time will tell.
