And that’s why the times he ran don’t really matter. However, nothing can discount the fact that he had some pretty concerning performances in Kingston last weekend. He may have walked out of the Jamaican island with $25,000, but any idea where he’s headed next? Well, we know!

Fred Kerley’s Kingston GST stop began with him running a 10.30-second 100m race on Sunday. While that was only good enough for 7th position, the American did pull off a comeback of sorts the next day, coming 3rd in the 200m with 20.39 on the board. While it was too little too late, for he’d already lost on the $100K chance by then, but his reaction? “Still got work to do” and that, “I’ll be on the podium when it comes.” And guess what? April 11, Fred Kerely posted an appreciation tweet for the GST on X. He wrote, “Blessing collect money and living a lil bit @GrandSlamTrack as athlete, we appreciate you guys, we definitely enjoy this weekend with 2 races.” That’s when Steve Gara, President of the Grand Slam Track, responded to the big man Kerley, “Can’t wait see @fkerley99 in three weeks.” Well, this was hardly a subtle hint. But a full-blown revelation!

Yes, the Miami leg of the Grand Slam Track is coming to America from May 2- 4, aka exactly three weeks from now. With 20 days to go for Miami, it is now nearly confirmed that Fred Kerley is keen to participate in the Grand Slam Track as it comes home. How do we know? Well, Kerley tweeted a reply to Steve Gara’s statement, saying, “Yessir greatness.” It sounds more like, Aye, Aye, captain, Kerley will be there at the Miami leg in a few!

Well, it won’t be surprising if Kerley comes to the Miami leg this soon. Because when asked what he thinks of the overall Grand Slam Track experience, he said this weekend, “It’s been wonderful, been a blessing, so I can’t complain.” Also, when asked if he’s ready for another gold at the Tokyo Worlds later this year, Fred Kerley said, “I think I’m ready for when the time comes, but right now we got to worry about the Grand Slam and these steps ahead.” Well, we have reasons to think that the steps ahead now include the upcoming leg of the GST that comes in 3 weeks. 

But the question is, is Fred Kerley in good shape to claim the Miami Slam Champion title? Here’s what we think of his performances so far this season.

Fred Kerley’s 2025 season a mixed bag?

Fred Kerley’s run four races so far this season. Safe to say, his performances have been quite varied. He started his season in March at the Trojan Invite, where his 10.23s run was enough for him to bag the first spot. Although that’s tad slower than what we’ve seen Kerley open his 100m in. Last year, he opened his 100m with a 10.03s win. But this year, the American’s a tad slower.

Next, at the Texas Relays, he helped Team USA Red to a 4x100m relay win, in 38.43 seconds. But it was the Grand Slam Track weekend that shocked us all. Kerley showed up with a below average 100m run. That’s the slowest 100m individual race timing he’s clocked in 5 years, since his 11.05s run at the American Track League Meet 2020.
