“Sent his lil bro instead lol…” Tyreek Hill was quick to mock Noah Lyles after their hyped face-off was replaced by a race between Hill and Lyles’ brother, Josephus. Hill even threw shade at Noah with a meme picturing him as a Simpson who hid in the bush after watching Hill blaze the 100m a weekend before the event was scrapped. But while Hill gloated, Noah remained quiet. No jibes, no trash talk. Amid this, the noise kept growing louder given Lyles’ absence from the track for the last 6 months. But well, little did everyone know, Lyles was getting ready in silence…..

Lyles last ran a professional race in April, that too, the 400m. He hasn’t tested himself in his signature distance, the 100m and 200m, in over 11 months! First, he withdrew from the Atlanta City Games due to a nagging injury that he didn’t want to risk. Later, when the expectations turned to his race against Tyreek Hill, even that got canceled due to “personal reasons.” Fans then voiced brutal reminders like, “Noah won’t race him [Hill] so he beat his brother.” But now, hopes have risen that Noah Lyles might be coming back!

On July 7, Lyles’ new Instagram reel dropped, shaking the track world up. The video showed that the reigning 100m Olympic champion, Noah Lyles, was in recovery mode, working on his body with his specialist. It was a simple, black-and-white video. No hype. No ambitious caption, which is quite unlikely of him. Instead, the caption seemed to have a deep message: “Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. – Matthew 4:1.” This may be symbolic of Lyles’ personal journey, hinting that he is coming out of his away time, strong, focused, and ready for his mission. Also, a few other factors hint that he might be showing up on the track soon!

Noah Lyles’ fiancée, Junelle Bromfield, added a comment on this post, “⏳🙏🏽,” which seemed to have solidified the speculations of his comeback. While Lyles’ post was very muted, with the hourglass emoji in Junelle’s comment, we know something is actively unfolding, and as the sand seeps to the bottom, the moment is getting closer. Most of us have a hint of what this moment is. After all, Noah had announced in May 2025 that he would be coming up for this one event. Do you remember which one was it?

Noah Lyles’ fans are rooting for his comeback

Most of Lyles’ fans are on the same page after this reel dropped. One of them said, “Here we go, the journey to retain Double Gold starts soon 👀.” Well, late but finally, some fans believe Noah Lyles is now on the way to retaining his 2023 100 and 200m individual World titles.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Noah Lyles silence his critics and reclaim his throne at the London Diamond League?

Have an interesting take?

Another user commented, “They have awoken the beast😭💪🏾” Now who is ‘they’ here? Probably the trolls who have been undermining Lyles this season. Or maybe his challengers. Because a lot of such comments had been making waves on the internet since the Noah-Hill race got called off. Thus, fans feel that it’s probably time to give back after all the silence.

Some fans were even confident that his form would come up to be just fine. In fact, better than others. One such supporter said, “He about to wreck everyone’s expectations for their season.” Well, a few veterans like Justin Gatlin have named Kenny Bednarek to be a “front runner.” Others have had great seasons on paper. But some fans believe that all of this will be under threat if Noah Lyles comes. Another one with a similar reaction said, “Noah Lyles about to smoke everyone on track 🔥🔥🔥🔥 let’s go champ 🔥🔥🔥🔥”

So the next stop for Noah Lyles as of now looks to be the London DL. There he will not just be a participant but the reigning champion who will look to defend his 100m throne. No wonder a fan wished for him to leave his haters speechless. “Good luck in the London Diamond League, can’t wait for you to silence the haters once again,” they said. What do you think? Can Lyles pull this off?
