The suspense around Quincy Wilson’s collegiate future might just be at its final stage. Multiple powerhouses have approached the 17-year-old prodigy, trying to recruit him to their team. The Louisiana State University even sent Vernon Norwood and coach Bennie Brazell to Wilson’s home for a briefing, trying to recruit him into the LSU Tigers. However, it now appears that Wilson has taken a stance with the University of California, Los Angeles.

On October 17, Wilson shared multiple visuals through his Instagram Stories, highlighting his probable NCAA move. In the first story, he shared an image of a bag labeled UCLA, with an official visitor’s pass hanging out. The visitors’ pass gave Wilson a “BIG WELCOME” and highlighted his stance in the sprints. In the next story, he shared a mirror selfie where he wore the Bruins’ blue and yellow jersey, completing the look with a matching blue cap. But it was the next slide that had the entire track and field world linger a bit.
Quincy Wilson paired up with Kassidy Hopkins, who was also there in the UCLA outfit. The duo danced together to the tunes of Blac Youngsta’s ‘Booty’ in the background. Following this, Vanessa Sessa Hopkins shared the duo’s dance video and added, “These two!! 🤞Current Teammates 💙💛Future Bruins?!? 🐻” Well, the speculations are already rising, and all the fans are waiting for is an official confirmation from the rising 17-year-old sprinter.

Quincy Wilson has been visiting the top colleges to decide his collegiate stance. He went through the prospects of the University of South Carolina, the University of Maryland, Texas Tech, the University of Tennessee, the University of Florida, and more. However, his recent Instagram Stories featuring UCLA gear, complete with a campus visitor pass and Bruins jersey, have sparked a new wave of speculation that the West Coast powerhouse might be in the lead.
Nevertheless, it’s not hard to understand why Wilson has become one of the most highly sought-after recruits in recent memory.

Why do colleges desperately want Quincy Wilson in their ranks?
At just 17 years old, he has already rewritten the record books with performances that place him among the fastest high school sprinters in U.S. history. Back in July, he ran a stunning 44.10 to stand atop the podium at the Ed Murphey Classic in Memphis. That finish was a personal improvement from his own previous mark of 44.20 seconds (set in July 2024) to become the fastest under-18 athlete in 400m. But it was also the fourth time he broke the under-18 400m world record.
He even earned a spot on Team USA’s 4x400m relay pool for the Paris 2024 Olympics, as the youngest U.S. Olympian to earn a place on the roster. That exposure to world-class competition, combined with his raw speed and composure under pressure, makes him a rare recruit who can deliver results from the moment he joins an NCAA program.
Wilson’s age, talent, and rising public profile mean he carries significant Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) potential. In Coach Rob’s words, “All the big-name schools have taken a shot at it, whether it was Florida, Texas Tech, Tennessee, South Carolina, for that matter, Georgia— all of them want a piece of Quincy, specifically to run on their team. And if they have any NIL money at all to give a track and field athlete, which many schools don’t, but if they do, they’re definitely going to give it to him.”
