The fans of women’s track and field very well remember the date September 13, 2024. Donning an olive green outfit, the Olympian took her mark in lane number 6, and as soon as the cue to run came, she jolted just like the rest of the athletes. This is also one of those races that the fans of the US athlete would like to forget. In the Women’s 100m Final of the Brussels Diamond League 2024, Sha’Carri Richardson finished eighth, the last in the race, clocking a time of 11.23 seconds. Ending her 2024 season with an end position, the athlete is yet to run in 2025. Now, you might want to keep that water bottle aside, for this next update might shock you if you know a thing or two about her 2025 season opener.

The 25-year-old took to her Instagram to share an update that has sparked concerns regarding her 2025 season opener. In a story she uploaded on May 7, 2025, the Olympian can be seen in a car with boyfriend Christian Coleman. Being a passenger princess, she has her legs outstretched across both the seats, her right one even going over Coleman. While the left leg of the track and field star shows a beautiful silver and blue anklet, it is the right leg that is concerning.

Her right leg had a compression sleeve over it. Though she had posted the picture with her hands making a peace sign, showcasing some beautiful nail work, she also wrote, “Just know practice won today😅.” This has once again raised the question of whether she is coming back to the track anytime soon. After all, the initial reports even suggested that she would participate in the 2025 Miramar Invitational. But that was not the case. However, we do know that she will come to the Préfontaine Classic. But that is way too far away on July 5 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. Can we really be sure?

While there is no source to claim it, there is a chance that her season debut might come before that. Where? Well, Michael Johnson is taking Grand Slam Track to Philly later this month, and the Diamond League is already on. Even her boyfriend, Christian Coleman, made a late-season debut in 2025. Track and field fans saw the man for the first time in 2025 on track in the Pepsi Florida Relays on April 5, 2025.

In the 4×100 Metres Relay, the man teamed up with Kyree King, Erriyon Knighton, and Robert Gregory to hit the mark of 38.16 seconds. The next race for him was the Tom Jones Memorial, where in the 100m, the man finished third, though he was the fan favorite for the number 1 position. Nevertheless, he must gear up if he wishes to rule the big events. And talking of big events, where else can we see Sha’Carri Richardson?

Sha’Carri Richardson at the World Championships

Tokyo is set to host a thrilling 2025 World Athletics Championships, with a fast track, packed stadiums, and global anticipation for record-breaking sprints. The women’s 100m and 200m are headline events, promising fierce competition under the lights of the National Stadium. Will she be there?

In most probable cases, we do expect Sha’Carri Richardson to show up for the world championships. In Tokyo, she could chase double gold in the 100m and 200m and even challenge Florence Griffith-Joyner’s longstanding world records of 10.49 and 21.34 seconds. Though those marks have stood since 1988, Richardson’s sub-10.70 performances are a hint that she might. What do you think about it?
