“I love the fact that in areas of my feminine side, I’m thriving.” December 2024 unveiled a new Sha’Carri Richardson to the world. The one who wasn’t in survival mode. But who was soaking in the “loving energy“? She was connecting with her family, thriving in her relationships, taking care of her training partners…..showing us a side we haven’t seen before. Call it her lover girl era, but this is happening in 2025 too. Walking down the Cannes carpet, spending awe-inspiring moments with her boyfriend, and so much more hints, this is a new Sha’Carri. And now, she’s agreed to it too.

Yes, 2025 so far isn’t looking like the ideal year for her track form. Just the season debut so far, and she’s started to struggle, coming fourth to Bree Rizzo at the Tokyo Golden Grand Prix. But this isn’t just true for her. For Coleman, too, 2025 hasn’t really started out great track form-wise. The man hasn’t won a single individual race so far this season. But when it comes to love, oh, the two seem to be head over heels in it. No wonder Sha’Carri made a candid confession to her boyfriend about her major life update.

On May 19, a YouTube video detailing Sha’Carri Richardson’s MET Gala 2025 experience, the pre-fittings in NYC part, surfaced on the internet. About 8 minutes into it, the Paris Olympics 100m silver medalist, Richardson, stood ahead of a mirror while the team customised the dress she picked. And that’s when she saw her first look in it and said, “I’m loving this. It’s giving me soft. I told my boyfriend I’m in my soft, rich girl era.” The room burst into laughter the minute she completed the sentence. Well, thanks for that life update, Sha’Carri!

Sha’Carri Richardson even went on to praise the dress and how it looked on her, proving that she indeed is in the soft girl era. Seconds after looking at herself in it, the track star said, “But no, I’m falling in love with this.” In the video, she even said that the butter yellow gown with a lavender lace bodysuit by Alessandro Michele that she was trying on for the MET Gala looked so beautiful on her that “The sketches did not do it justice.” Well, if this isn’t soft girl era, what is?

This is not the first time either. In December 2024, when Richardson spoke to Essence magazine, she talked about embracing her “divine feminine” aura and surrendering to her “soft girl” era. Whether she is spending her time at home cooking, dancing, getting a signature nail set, or just surrounding herself with bright colors (as she did in her choice of the MET Gala dress), she is just absorbing as much positivity as she can. And well, now that’s something she confessed to her boyfriend, Coleman, too.

But at the same time, Richardson talked more about her life. She even let out some crucial details about the balancing act. Leading 2 lives at once is not an easy task, she says!

What’s your perspective on:

Is Sha'Carri's 'soft girl era' a distraction from her track goals, or a necessary evolution?

When you are Sha’Carri Richardson, the grind doesn’t stop

The unseen MET gala video also detailed Sha’Carri Richardson talking about how she was constantly on the move, balancing between her track and off-track commitments. Richardson said, “I just feel like it’s crazy that I was just in China and now I’m in New York.” She even added, “I was gonna say, I’m in New York now, and then I wanna say two weeks from now, I’ll be going back to Tokyo.” Richardson attended the World Relays in China to cheer for her boyfriend, Christian Coleman, who ran the 100m there. She then flew back to NYC for the MET and was about to wrap that up and get ready for Tokyo, where she made her season debut at the Seiko Golden Grand Prix.

Richardson talked about the balancing act. She said, “The girl is on the move. I love it ,though.” If we see, in life too, she’s leading multiple roles. She’s being a track athlete, someone that the Americans truly love watching on the track. She’s also being a loving girlfriend to Christain Coleman, supporting him at his events, planning his birthday surprises, and more. Also, she’s doing all that while keeping an active social media presence, attending events to boost her celebrity stature, and signing deals with brands through the latest contract she signed with Wasserman. But while we feel all that must be tough, she self-admittedly loves it. What do you think about this?
