This generation keeps throwing surprises at us. Now and then, someone shows up and just stops you dead in your tracks, literally. Picture this: a 13-year-old track and field prodigy, just a 7th grader, who, at an age when most kids can’t even leave the house without their mom, is making the entire track world go wide-eyed with shock because of her insane speed. Seriously, this young athlete is rewriting all the rules and turning heads wherever she runs. So, how exactly did she do it?
Well, on June 8th at the Brooks PR Invitational in Washington, Camryn Dailey did something unreal; she ran the 400 meters in a jaw-dropping 51.67 seconds, leaving the rest of the field in the dust. The closest competitor, Melanie Doggett, finished way behind at 53.55, with others like Cayla Hawkins (55.14), Trinity Perine (55.57), Lanah Lucas (55.75), Abigail Robisky (55.81), Oluwatoyin Awoleye (56.16), and Gillian Carvalho (58.38) all putting up solid times.

But none even close to Camryn’s blazing speed. Seriously, let that sink in; this 13-year-old just set the bar crazy high for everyone else. Not only did Dailey win the race, but she also shattered the middle school national record—and the world record in this category, leaving the entire track and field world stunned.
Just finishing seventh grade and repping Track Xplosion Elite out of Texas, Camryn didn’t just show up; she owned the stage in Renton, WA, with a performance that had jaws dropping all around. And believe it or not, that’s just one piece of her story. Earlier this year, she clocked a smoking 23.76 seconds in the 200 meters at the VA Showcase, easily one of the fastest times in the nation for her age.
Then she turned around and crushed the 60-meter dash. From the 100m to the 400m, Camryn Dailey is proving she’s not just a standout; she’s a sprinting phenomenon. And after that 400m performance? The entire track and field community is officially obsessed.
