Sports commentator, Ron Thulin, and former basketball star Fran Harris took the mic in the Dallas Wings vs. Las Vegas Aces face-off at College Park Center, Arlington, TX. And for the game, Jackie Young poured in 24 points and 8 assists, leading the Las Vegas Aces to a commanding 106–80 win over the Dallas Wings. Even the bench strength was key: Jewell Loyd logged 20 points in her first off‑the‑bench appearance, while Kierstan Bell added a career-high 19 points. But surprisingly, there was something for the track and field fans as well – Usain Bolt in the audience, and Thulin revealed how Bolt refused his challenge.

The crowd in the College Park Center roared when they found the 8-time Olympic gold medalist sitting in the crowd among them. WNBA posted a reel in collaboration with the official Instagram handle of the Jamaican and captioned, “🚨@usainbolt pulled up to the W 🚨The eight-time Olympic gold medalist is in the building at College Park Center for Aces vs Wings. LVA vs DAL | League Pass.” But what had the fans laughing was the commentary at the time when Bolt came on screen. Ron Thulin had a confession.

The sports commentator said, “How about that? Usain Bolt, I challenged him to go one lap here from end line to end line. He said no.” The man with the mic, especially known as the main play-by-play announcer for the Dallas Wings in the WNBA, wanted to challenge the sprinting legend who is known for leaving his opponents in the dust. Well, that was surely a joke, but an end-to-end line race between Bolt and Thulin here at the court in College Park Center would have been a sight.

Usain Bolt is a longtime NBA fan who notably supports the Golden State Warriors—he’s frequently spotted donning their gear, wearing jerseys, and celebrating wins and standing by their side in losses. In this game, he also met one of the biggest stars who was playing on the court, and also one who was not.

A’ja Wilson had some words for Usain Bolt

An X account posted a video of A’ja Wilson meeting with the Jamaican sprinting legend. The WNBA player straight-up dapped the Olympian, and they hugged.  The tweet was captioned, “‘You the GOAT. It’s so nice to meet you.’ – A’ja Wilson to Usain Bolt.” She had an all-around performance today with her double-double with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists, adding 2 steals and 4 blocks across 33 minutes. She wasn’t the only player to meet Bolt, though.

ESPN also shared pictures of Wilson with Bolt, but they had someone else in them as well. “Usain Bolt linked up with Paige Bueckers and A’ja Wilson after the game 🤩 (via @dallaswings, @lvaces),” the caption read. In the video shared by ESPN, Bueckers and Bolt can also be seen doing the dap and hugging, and surprise, surprise! Paige Bueckers gave Usain Bolt a signed jersey. What do you think of that?
