Well, Trayvon Bromell’s father was a former professional football player; he brought his athletic talents to the Canadian Football League, but his journey didn’t stop at the field.

After hanging up his cleats, Cashmere still devoted his life to assisting others. He worked as a counselor for the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, where he mentored and advised countless young lives. But his most important work may have been as the director of the Brothers Making a Difference Mentoring Program (BMAD). It was an initiative of the community that offered boys mentorship between the ages of 8 and 16, as well as success skill development for parents and community leaders.

Cashmere was also a proud alumnus of South Carolina State University in Orangeburg and a devoted member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, a brotherhood that reflected his values of leadership and service. Sadly, on September 2, 2014, Cashmere passed away following a heart attack. His death was a turning point in Trayvon’s life—deeply painful, yet profoundly shaping.

Her dedication didn’t go unnoticed; when Trayvon turned professional, he made a heartfelt promise to his mother to complete his college education, emphasizing the importance of the degree they both valued.
