And there he goes, once again breaking through the finish tape and posing with a peace sign. Can you guess who that is? Yared Nuguse, of course. The Goose that flew like a Peregrine Falcon in the Millrose Games 2025. He ran 1500 meters in 3:46.63, breaking the record of the fastest, which was set by Ethiopian Yomif Kejelcha (3:47.01) in Boston in 2019. The record lasted for a few days before Jakob Ingebrigtsen bettered it to 3:45.14.

Nuguse tried to better the record in the BU Last Chance National Qualifier in March 2025, but he fell short of Jakob’s record by 2.08 seconds. Last year, the Pokemon and pop-tarts enthusiast won bronze at the Paris Olympics and a silver at the 2024 World Indoor Championships. Add to that the fact that he is also an NCAA champion and a 2x Diamond League meet winner, and it’s not difficult to understand why he must be a hot topic in and around the track and field community. Makes you wonder what his net worth might be.

What is Yared Nuguse’s Net Worth in 2025?

Born on June 01, 1999, in Louisville, Kentucky, the American track and field runner wanted to be a dentist before he was smoking the track; he could’ve earned quite a lot there. As for his earnings from being a track and field star, there have been no confirmations as such from the 25-year-old. However, he does have some pretty good sponsors and endorsement deals with him.

On a podcast with Citius Mag in June 2022, Nuguse informed that he is going to join the On Athletics Club to work under coach Dathan Ritzenhein. Founded in 2020, the On Athletics Club is a training group of professional distance runners sponsored by On—a Swiss running shoe company partly owned by tennis legend Roger Federer. This club provides Nuguse with athletic gear and support, contributing to his development and success on the track. The runner even featured in an advertisement for the sportswear company in February. In it, Nugusen was seen receiving a ‘soft medal’ from Sesame Street’s Elmo for having the ‘softest nickname’—The Goose.

Other than that, Yared Nuguse became one of the first four athletes to sign with Michael Johnson’s Grand Slam Track alongside Cole Hocker, Josh Kerr, and Sydney McLaughlin Levrone. “Joining Grand Slam Track™ was an easy decision for me because it does so much for our sport and the athletes,” said Nuguse. “This represents a huge investment in taking our sport to the next level, and allowing millions of track fans to see us race on a far more regular basis.” With upwards of $30 million in investments, the event will have a prize pool of $12.6 million.

As for Nuguse, he will be racing in all four Slams in 2025, and will be entitled to an annual base compensation and a wealth of other revenue opportunities and privileges. And of course, there is the $100,000 prize money reserved for the winner of each Slam group.

Overall, things are looking up in the track and field world for the Kentucky native. Back in 2023, Nuguse said that his plan was to run for a while before joining dental school. Who knows? With the opportunities that have been coming his way, he’ll perhaps hang around the track for longer than he had initially planned.
