At the age of 17, she won her first Cadet (U17) World Championships in the 69 kg class, taking the gold in Budapest. A year later, in 2022, she entered the 2022 Senior World Wrestling Championships, held in Belgrade, Serbia, to become the youngest American (man or woman) to win a Senior World Championship. A historic final that ended with a 10-0 technicality saw the American life the championships. A year later, again the championships returned, and she won her second straight Senior World title. 2024 saw her become an Olympic world champion. For the 2025 Senior World Wrestling Championships return, she was the favorite to go for it. But she has an update. Quite a sad one!
Amit Elor took to her Instagram on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, to announce that, “Hi everyone, I’m sad to share that I will not be able to compete in Final X due to health reasons. I recently found out that I was anemic during the World Team Trials, which added up to be too much with my current injuries. In the meantime, I’m committed to safely working on strengthening my wrestling. I’m also very excited to contribute to the wrestling community by being more available for camps and clinics.” This came after Elor returned to the mat for the first time after the Paris Olympics for the 2025 Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky.
Elor marked a victory over Elleni Johnson in the 72 kg Semifinal with a 10-0 technical fall, and the finals saw her defeat Skylar Grote with a score of 2-1. The next step for her was FinalX, where Team USA’s representative at the 2025 Senior World Championships will be decided. In April 2025, Alexandria Glaude secured her spot in the finals and faced Skylar Grote in the 72 kg final and came out on top with a 4–3 decision victory in the US Open. Who would face her if not Elor now?

In the Instagram post, she also wrote, “Wishing the very best to all the wrestlers competing this weekend! No matter what, I’m sure we’re going to have an incredible team representing us at the world stage 🇺🇸 To my Final X competitor, @glaudealex, you got this and I’ll be cheering for you at worlds! 🫶” Elor’s decision to withdraw from the final stage of the World team qualifying process means that 2018 U23 World bronze medalist Alexandria Glaude will represent Team USA in September’s World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia.
Elor is one of the best to be around in women’s wrestling for the USA. Her absence is indeed critical. Let’s have a look at some of her career’s biggest achievements

Other than that, she trains at Beaver Dam RTC at Oregon State, and ever since the move in 2021, she has become U.S. Senior Nationals champion at 72 kg, winning two matches 8‑1 and 8‑0 over Skylar Grote. At the 2023 U.S. Open, she placed 2nd in the 68 kg division, losing only to Forrest Molinari. It is safe to say that the U.S. win is in safe hands.
As for Amit Elor After winning at the U17 World Championship in 2021 and then becoming the youngest American ever to win a Senior World title at just 18 in 2022, she didn’t stop that year. In 2022 alone, she won the U20 (Junior) World Championship, defeating Anastassiya Panassovich (Kazakhstan) by 10–0 technical fall in the final. Then she claimed the Senior World Championships and to complete the triple crown, Elor laid her hands on the U23 World Championships, for which she defeated Wiktoria Chołuj (Poland) with an 11–0 technical fall in the final.

Also, she is one of those very few wrestlers who have claimed a three-peat of U-20 world titles. In 2022, it was Panassovich who fell. Before that, the US wrestler took on Elizaveta Petliakova of Russia for the 2021 final, where once again she claimed victory with a score of 11–0. In 2023, she completed the three-peat by defeating Turkey’s Bukrenaz Sert in the final.
In 2024, she found herself at the grandest stage of all. The Olympic Games. And to no surprise, she delivered a flawless run to claim gold in the 68 kg freestyle wrestling category. In the final, she defeated Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgyzstan, a former world champion, with a 3–0 scorecard. She became the youngest American wrestler—male or female—to win Olympic gold. Her absence at the 2025 Senior World Wrestling Championships might even cost the USA the trophy. What do you think?
