Daniel Puertas respects Superlek “The Kicking Machine” Kiatmoo9 as an athlete and a fellow martial artist, but that will be put aside when the two tango for the vacant ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Title this Friday. The Spanish star enters this battle on the back of a solid win and he wants to maintain that momentum in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 6: Superbon vs. Allazov on Prime Video.

However, with the Thai striker riding on a three-match winning run, Puertas expects a tricky challenge. In his last outing in ONE, the Thai dished out a striking clinic to oust “The Angel Warrior” Panpayak Jitmuangnon in an entertaining three-round affair.

The study of Daniel Puertas will keep him prepared for his opponent

Puertas has taken notes of what his foe does best, and he will find a way around his rival’s strengths to leave the venue tomorrow with his hand raised. “Superlek is a very strong opponent. My team and I really haven’t worked on a specific game plan for him, we are focused on the final result, and that’s to get the victory. It really doesn’t matter who the opponent is,” the Malaga native said.

Understandably, it wouldn’t be easy to register a win against the Kiatmoo9 Gym representative, who owns more than 130 career victories. Still, the Spanish fighter isn’t fazed by his foe’s impressive resume.

After all, his sole victory on the global stage is proof that he is a top-class striker, and he hopes to dish out another classic performance at ONE Fight Night 6. And despite whatever threat “The Kicking Machine” possesses, Puertas will come prepared.

Daniel Puertas predicted himself as the victor after a tough bout

“I think it will be a very tough match, but I see myself winning this fight. We are prepared for any situation. My team and I will go out there to do our job,” the Ultimatum Fight School representative added.

A victory over Superlek would surely propel him to new heights in ONE, and he’s ready to put in a performance of a lifetime to take home an important win in Bangkok, Thailand.

My interest in combat sports began watching scripted pro wrestling shows. It was my father who directed me towards combat sports and it wasn’t until the late 2010s that I discovered the world of MMA and the UFC. Like many of you, I too, tuned in for the infamous Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor bout live on October 6, 2018. Being an ardent fan of the UFC (and Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier), I was always looking to have conversations about the same with others. But to my disappointment, I hardly found any followers of the sports to interact with. So I took it upon myself to do my part in popularizing the thrill and the agony behind the purest form of unarmed combat. At EssentiallySports, I try to bring the readers closer to the athletes and focus my coverage on exploring the human side of these martial artists. I’m a musician during my time free from reporting MMA. I operate as the lead vocalist of a rock band that aims to make their mark among the audiences with their original alternative-hard rock songs.
