Former ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Champion Alaverdi Ramazanov is ready to get back on the right track toward another shot at the divisional crown, and he wants to prove it by taking out a formidable opponent in his upcoming bout.

At ONE Friday Fights 68: Prajanchai vs. Di Bella on Friday, June 28, “Babyface Killer” is set to collide with another former titleholder in Petchtanong Petchfergus in a pivotal bantamweight kickboxing match inside the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

While he is confident in his skills, Ramazanov tells ONE that he is aware of the dangers that his Thai rival will be bringing to the table. “Petchtanong is a very serious opponent. I believe this is a really interesting fight, very unpredictable because we are both fighters who show class and technique in the ring and who fight smart,” he said.

The Russian striker wants to make a big statement in his return to action after nine months away, and there’s no better way to do it than taking out the last person who took the belt from a titleholder.

Petchtanong is undefeated in three fights in the world’s largest martial arts organization. He defeated a former ONE World Champion in Capitan Petchyindee in his promotional debut in September 2020, and followed that up with a gritty win against China’s Zhang Chenglong at ONE: REVOLUTION a year later, which earned him a shot at the divisional crown.

In November 2022, he reached the pinnacle of the sport by edging out Hiroki Akimoto to claim the ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title in the main event of ONE 163. Unfortunately, he was stripped of his belt before he could defend it after testing positive for a banned substance he claimed to use for recovery during an off-competition test.

Ramazanov believes that despite the resulting inactivity from the Thai star, Petchtanong remains as formidable as ever due to his incredible resume and skill set. That said, “Babyface Killer” isn’t selling himself short, and he’s aiming to pull off an upset in front of the mostly Thai crowd inside Lumpinee this weekend.

“Petchtanong’s strengths are probably his colossal experience. He is a very experienced opponent, very talented, and with a strong fighting IQ,” he said. “I don’t have a plan for the fight with him. To be honest, I just want to outplay him. I’ll see what his style will be like. With guys like him, you won’t be able to just impose your own game, but it’s interesting to try.I am doing everything possible in the gym to surprise and please the fans with my victory.”
