On Friday, July 5, in the main event of ONE Fight Night 23 on Prime Video, the 31-year-old sensation will make his promotional debut when he squares off with South Korean star Ok Rae Yoon for the ONE Interim Lightweight MMA World Title.

That battle will go down live in U.S. primetime at the historic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

For Rasulov, that World Title showdown will represent the culmination of years of hard work and continued efforts to find the most challenging opponents available.

After racking up a pristine 13-0 professional record on the notoriously tough Russian regional scene, the ONE newcomer might be MMA’s best-kept secret. With his prodigious athletic abilities, relentless grappling-based attack, and knack for finding the finish, he has cemented himself as one of the planet’s most dangerous talents.

Understandably, it’s been difficult to find opponents for Rasulov.

He says he’s been itching to fight in ONE for some time, but until Ok signed on the dotted line, he struggled to find a willing opponent:

“I was offered fights, I agreed, but they couldn’t find an opponent for me for two years. It was very difficult.

It was hard to motivate myself, but I kept training and preparing. I continued to hope, and it has finally borne fruit.”

Rasulov’s ambitious challenge against former champion Ok

If Rasulov wanted a top opponent, he’s getting just that in Ok. The 33-year-old is a former undisputed ONE Lightweight MMA World Champion, boasting victories over the likes of American superstar Eddie Alvarez and current lightweight MMA kingpin Christian “The Warrior” Lee.

Taking on a former World Champion – with 26 pounds of interim gold on the line, no less – is a dream come true for the Turkish fighter.

His moment is now, says Rasulov, and he’s primed to showcase his immense talent on the biggest stage available:

“When I was signed to ONE Championship, I was happy to know I would fight the best fighters in the world. My goal here is to become a champion and show beautiful fights.

“I wish for my opponent to stay in good form so that we can show a spectacular fight. Every athlete prepares for a fight for a very long time, and he wants this fight to be remembered for life.”
