Former two-division ONE World Champion Aung La “The Burmese Python” N Sang is ready to open his account for 2023 in typical fashion – with a highlight-reel finish. Just days out from his return to the Circle, the Myanmarese athlete, who will meet Brazilian veteran Gilberto Galvao at ONE Fight Night 6: Superbon vs. Allazov on Prime Video this Friday, January 13, made his intentions clear.
“If you watch any of my fights, I’m always looking for the finish. I want to get the finish, and I’m going to work hard to get the finish,” the Kill Cliff FC representative warned.

And for good reason. Galvao has a highly regarded submission game, with 13 of his victories coming by way of a plethora of locks and chokes. Though he doesn’t possess the wicked one-punch power Aung La N Sang has displayed, Galvao has an iron chin – meaning he can hang with some of the best strikers on the planet.
As a result, “The Burmese Python” refuses to be overconfident ahead of a tricky 42nd career fight.
“[Galvao is] going to be physically strong. He’s a jiu-jitsu black belt. He’s down to throw power and looping shots as well. I feel like I’m a little bit better than him in the striking department, a little bit cleaner,” he offered. “I think, on the ground, I’ll do okay against him. But I think my conditioning is better than his.”

Aung la N Sang Had no problems with this catchweight bout at 215lbs
The much-anticipated fight will be contested at a 215-pound catchweight after Aung La N Sang’s original rival, Fan Rong, was forced out of the initial middleweight contest due to a positive COVID-19 test.But due to his eagerness to return to action, the former middleweight and light heavyweight king is more than willing to slug it out with Galvao at a slightly higher weight class.

“They said that Gilberto can’t make the middleweight weight class and [asked] could we do a catchweight. We’re going to do a catchweight at 215, which is fine. I’m about 215. I’m not going to be super undersized”, Aung La Sang said.
“This weight class is 10 pounds over my natural weight class, but I’ve fought at light heavyweight too, so it’s going to be alright.”
