There’s nothing that Aung La “The Burmese Python” N Sang wants more than to reclaim the ONE Middleweight World Title.

To do that, the Myanmarese sporting icon knows he has to regain the form that saw him become one of the organization’s most dominant athletes.

Things haven’t gone as planned lately for the 37-year-old star, with only one win in his last four outings, but he is confident he won’t face too much of an uphill battle to start another push towards the top of the division that he once reigned over – as long as he can return to winning ways.

“I feel like if I finish the next few middleweights that I fight, I’ll be back in the mix,” the 37-year-old offered.

Once he has things sorted on his end, the former two-division king believes he’ll be in the running to face the winner of Reinier “The Dutch Knight” de Ridder versus Vitaly Bigdash, which is set to headline ONE 159 on 22 July.

The ever-friendly veteran is on good terms with the World Champion and his upcoming opponent, but he intends to keep them at arm’s length in case they may be standing in the way of his goal at some point in the future.

“To me, they could both potentially be my opponent again. So, with all due respect to them, I don’t intend to be their best friend anytime soon. Maybe down the line, if I get to know them more – maybe,” the Sanford MMA star said.

“But right now, we’re cordial, we’re respectful, and they’re both great athletes. I’m friendly towards them, and I’m respectful towards them. I’m not best friends with either of them. And, given the chance, I’ll fight them again in a heartbeat.”

Bigdash, a former middleweight king himself, booked his shot at the divisional strap after taking out the Myanmar fighter at ONE: FULL CIRCLE in February this year.

He outscored his longtime rival in every department to bag a clear-cut unanimous decision inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Aung La N Sang expects Bigdash to dial in another career-defining performance against De Ridder in their scheduled five-round war in “The Lion City.”

“It’s going to be a good fight. They’re both very good competitors, so I’m excited for it, and I’m very familiar with both of them,” Aung La N Sang added.
