ONE Championship dropped a fight week vlog today, giving fans an inside look at what goes on behind the scenes ahead of one of the most exciting cards of the year.

The ONE: Revolution vlog showcases the biggest athletes, names like Christian and Victoria Lee, Joshua Pacio, and Buchecha, and what it’s like in Singapore before a massive event.

One athlete featured prominently in the vlog was none other than former two-division ONE world champion “The Burmese Python” Aung La N Sang. Aung La is in town to corner his friend and Sanford MMA teammate Martin Nguyen who will be taking on Kim Jae Woong in a featherweight title eliminator.

Aung La, although not currently scheduled to compete on Friday night, may have subtly stolen the headlines.

“I’ve got a feeling that someone’s going to pull out,” Nguyen said to Aung La as the latter swam laps in the hotel pool.

The fight Nguyen is referring to is the heavyweight bout between Amir Aliakbari and Anatoly Malykhin. While there is no veracity to Nguyen’s claims and neither heavyweight fighter has indicated any sort of issue, crazier things have happened.

“Anatoly [Malykhin] is big. He’s big but kind of short,” Aung La said after an in-person interaction with the Russian heavyweight finisher. “If any of the heavyweights—if something goes wrong, then I’m in.”

Aung La has always been down for any challenge, especially the crazy ones like taking on the most dangerous heavyweights on this card. He has fought the majority of his career between light heavyweight and middleweight, capturing titles in both weight classes, which makes the prospect of a short-notice bout a bit more realistic.

Additionally, it was hard not to notice that Aung La appeared to be in outstanding shape for someone not in the midst of a fight camp. It is also worth noting that the former double-champ has maintained his new look, emphasizing the new “Dark Aung La” persona recently bestowed upon him by ONE Championship fans.

The endearing nickname came about prior to his most recent bout against Leandro Ataides, in which Aung La showed up to fight week sporting a full beard. The look corresponded with his seemingly renewed mindset, straying from the usual bright smile in favor of a darker, more serious approach.

This change would pay dividends, not only providing him with a new way to connect with his fan base but also resulting in a devastating knockout victory.

If either Amir Aliakbari or Anatoly Malykhin ran into problems and for some reason couldn’t fight, ONE Championship knows it has one man in Aung La willing to climb into the Circle at the drop of a dime.
