Yu Yau Pui, a Hong Kong native, has dominated opponents since her promotional debut last year. Her journey began with the ONE Friday Fights series, where four consecutive knockout wins from five fights earned her a six-figure contract to compete in ONE’s marquee events. Despite her impressive resume and rapid rise, Yu considers herself an underdog against the decorated Pirnie.

In an interview, Yu revealed, “When I first heard her name, I don’t remember if I had even started competing yet. I know that she has so much experience on many platforms and many big stages. I consider myself an underdog.”

Yu is wise to be wary of her upcoming opponent. The Scottish sensation was described by her coaches as a natural-born fighter, which is reflected in her achievements. She won the ISKA British 117-pound title, a WBC Muay Thai international title, and also claimed the ISKA flyweight world title, winning all fights by knockouts. However, the Scottish phenom hadn’t fought in three years until her return to action at ONE Fight Night 24.

Yu Yau Pui aims to target Amy Pirnie’s weakness

Yu Yau Pui’s current active status will play a crucial role in overcoming Amy Pirnie’s three-year layoff. A victory over Pirnie could solidify Yu’s position as one of the best fighters in the division. While Yu acknowledges Pirnie’s fighting experience and muscular build, she believes that it could work in her favor, especially in terms of conditioning. Yu stated, “I know to maintain such a muscular body, you need to consume a lot of energy. Because she has not fought for a long time, I may have better conditioning than her.”

Yu Yau Pui further anticipated a three-round battle against Amy Pirnie, hoping to uncover her opponent’s vulnerabilities. However, the Hong Kong fighter expressed her aversion to predictions, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of the sport. She preferred to let her actions speak louder than her words.

What are your thoughts on the upcoming astonishing women’s atomweight Muay Thai fight between Yu Yau Pui and Amy Pirnie? Can Yu continue to roll with her winning streak, or will Amy Pirnie triumph in her promotional debut? Let us know in the comments below.
