Angela ‘Unstoppable’ Lee would return inside the ONE Circle after almost three years, after becoming a mother. Meanwhile, in her absence, ONE atomweight division saw the rise of Stamp Fairtex, her opponent at ONE: X, as an MMA fighter.

Stamp, who previously held the ONE atomweight world titles in the kickboxing and Muay Thai disciplines, also won the ONE Atomweight World Grand Prix and became the number one contender for Angela Lee’s World Championship.

With only a few days left in the 10-year-anniversary show, the World Champion spoke of the bout getting labeled as a ‘striker vs. grappler’ contest.

Lee said, “This is an MMA fight. We’re both mixed martial artists. Stamp, she has evolved a lot. I don’t see her as a striker only. I do understand that is where her strength lies. But I know that she’s coming into this fight as a well-rounded mixed martial artist.”

She added, “For me, being raised up, learning mixed martial arts as a whole, obviously I feel that MMA is where my strength lies.”

The inaugural ONE Atomweight World Champion, 10-2, has seven of her eight career finishes coming via submission. Thus, the Evolve MMA and United MMA product would look to secure the fight via a simple route and look to put the Thai fighter down early in the fight.

However, taking down Stamp Fairtex has been a struggle for even someone of the caliber of Ritu Phogat, who is a lifelong wrestler. Hence, Lee has a tough task in front of her at ONE: X.

Angela Lee wants to grab the new ONE Championship World Title

During the press conference, ONE Championship announced a multi-year partnership with TUMI. In addition, the Home of Martial Arts introduced the revived gold design for the World Champions.

Hence, the returning World Champion can’t resist herself from getting the shiny new World Title. Lee posted about her excitement about the redesigned Championship on her Instagram.

“Have you guys seen the new @onechampionship belt?! That’s a lot of gold. I can’t wait to get my hands on this beauty,” she wrote.
