Lineker’s bout against Fernandes has been postponed on a couple of occasions. But with less than 72 hours out from their showdown at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, it seems like the five-round bantamweight war will finally happen.
The long wait might have been frustrating for the Parana native. But on the bright side, he points out that he started looking at it from a more positive perspective.
“I thought the fact that the fight was postponed would harm me, but thank God, it didn’t harm me at all. Not even the trip, which is a long trip, got in my way. I continued training and managed to keep myself at a high level,” the 31-year-old athlete offered.
“My physical condition is 100 percent, and I managed to improve my technique a little more and also better analyze my fight strategy. In the end, this postponement turned out to be positive.”

He may view it as a blessing in disguise, but from the flip side, the postponement also gave the division king plenty of time to work on his stand-up arsenal – something “The Flash” will need to work on immensely against a fighter with 16 knockouts to his name.
John Lineker wants nothing less than a knockout at ONE: LIGHTS OUT
The top-ranked bantamweight star, however, does not seem too concerned about what Fernandes brings to the Circle. Instead, he predicts that he will deliver all the action and finish the bout well inside the scheduled 25 minutes time frame.

“I always look for the knockout. I don’t like to leave it to the judges’ decision because you never know what might happen. My intention in this fight is to seek the knockout. I intend to knock him out fast,” the bantamweight fighter noted.
“I don’t want to extend this fight too long. But a fight is a fight. We have a plan, but like I said, it can change during the fight. But my focus, my goal is this – to seek the knockout all the time and not leave it in the judges’ hands.”
