“Mini T” Danial Williams has big plans in ONE Championship, and the Aussie-Thai sensation is looking to get closer to putting them in place with another big victory at ONE 159 on July 22.

That evening, the Perth native will welcome Zelang Zhaxi to the global stage in a strawweight mixed martial arts showdown inside the Singapore Indoor Stadium. And he intends to further prove to the global audience why he is one of the stars to watch at The Home of Martial Arts.

“To me, I only have 15 minutes to perform, and I want to ensure that each minute is me exerting my energy and skills to the fullest,” Williams said.

“That’s how I put on good fights, and I think that’s one of the reasons why I keep on getting called back to compete. I always train to keep it action-packed, so I want to excite the fans and get the win.”

“Mini T” has consistently walked the talk inside the ONE Circle. In his debut, he took on Rodtang Jitmuangnon and proceeded to put on a dazzling performance against the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion.

Those victories have given him confidence that he can tango with the best, and the fan-favorite fighter is confident he’ll put up a similar display against his Chinese rival next Friday. 

“I think I’ll be able to handle his grappling or takedowns, and I’ll slowly take him apart in the stand-up department,” Williams claimed.

“I want to break him, really, I want to land those good shots but not go too crazy hunting for the finish. I want to touch him multiple times. And the more I land, the faster he will wear down.”

However, the former WMC Muay Thai World Champion admits he is braced for a well-rounded and experienced opponent who will attempt to push him out of his comfort zone.

After all, Zhang owns a 19-6-1 record, and he has a trio of wins in ONE Hero Series – the organization’s Chinese developmental league. So, Williams knows not to underestimate him.

“It’s a tricky fight. It’s one of those fights where it’s hard to build a game plan. But I’m preparing for the worst. And the worst is him just shooting for takedowns [and] fighting it on the ground. And that’s what I’m going to expect him to do,” he said.
