Former ONE Bantamweight World Champion Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon feels that he has been inflicted with somewhat of a curse in his MMA career as of late.

But the Filipino warrior is determined to find his old form when he takes on “The Fighting God” Kim Jae Woong at ONE on Prime Video 4 on Friday, November 18. “This is such an important fight for me, especially since it’s been a while since I won,” the 35-year-old stated.

I’m a desperate man, and I’m desperate for a win here. I want to break the curse, end that consecutive losing streak, and start a streak of my own.”

Kevin Belingon is adamant about breaking his losing streak

It’s easy to understand why the Team Lakay athlete is hell-bent to get back to the winner’s circle. “The Silencer” enters this bout on the longest streak of losses in his professional career, and he has looked like a shadow of his former self in recent outings.

His striking weaponry, though still potent, has failed to get him across the finish line in his past four visits to the Circle – the most recent of which was against “Pretty Boy” Kwon Won Il in December last year.

It’s worth noting, however, that his opponents have been amongst the very top talent that the bantamweight division has on offer. Nonetheless, Belingon’s run of defeats hasn’t set well with him.

But with 11 months to prepare for his upcoming battle, the Filipino star’s determination and confidence are now at an all-time high, and he’s ready to showcase that burning desire to succeed against Kim on American primetime next Friday.

“I think looking back at my losses, my confidence was an issue. I feel like I’m more confident and decisive entering this fight, that’s one thing that I’m looking at in this match. Even though I’ll be facing a bigger opponent this time, my confidence is solid,” Belingon said.

“Building confidence comes with preparation. I feel like I lacked preparation over my past fights. Now, I feel like I have sufficient time to prepare for this fight.”
