Adrian Lee proved to be the real deal after his emphatic ONE 167 debut win against Antonio Mammarella. Watching his exceptional performance from close quarters was the reigning dual MMA champion, Christian Lee. It was the first time when Christian entered the arena as a coach, and he seemed a bit nervous for his young brother. However, Adrian proved his class and won the MMA clash.

Christian Lee is ready to leave the lightweight title if he ever has to face his brother

Before his ONE 167 debut, Adrian, in most of his interviews, thanked his siblings for showing him the path to success. One of his biggest supporters has been his big brother, Christian. Not only has he taken him under his wing but helped him in his training sessions as well. Now the reigning two-division champion is all set to let go of his lightweight title for his younger brother.

While speaking to the host of ONE Championship on SCMP, ‘The Warrior’ said, “You know for me it’s very busy. You know being holding two divisions. So I am glad that I won the belt and I do plan on defending my lightweight belt but when the time comes there’s definitely going to be no competition there. I’ll leave the lightweight belt if he’s ready for it.”

Not only Christian but Adrian also holds a huge degree of respect for his brother. Despite competing in the same division as his brother, Adrian is not eyeing a title fight against him. Before his big debut fight, he cleared that he would never face his brother for a title shot.

Adrian Lee shares his stance on facing Christian Lee for the lightweight title

Adrian is the latest member of the Lee family to set foot in ONE. His impressive performance on his ONE debut has forced the fans to believe he is the next big thing in the division. Adrian submitted Mammarella in the second round and seems to be following his sibling’s footsteps. Lee’s brother and sister also made a smashing debut and later became champions in their divisions. However, it seems that “The Phenom” does not aspire to go against his brother in the lightweight division.

Currently, Christian holds the title in the lightweight and welterweight division. With the kind of debut Adrian has made, it’s just a matter of time before he challenges Christian for the title. But it seems he is not willing to go against his brother at the moment. In one of his interviews, the young prodigy said, “Me and my brother will never face each other. If the time comes where I am the #1 contender, and he’s still the lightweight champ, I will wait until he relinquishes his belt.”

It will be interesting to see whether the brothers ever face each other for the lightweight title. What do you feel about the claims made by Christian Lee? Let us know about it in the comments below.
