Amy Pirnie had a spectacular ONE Championship debut this past weekend, and she made a statement in her first match in three years. After winning her bout against Yau Pui Yu, the Scottish fighter is looking to take a step back to enjoy her life.

At ONE Fight Night 24 last Friday, August 2, the Scottish striker snapped Yu Yau Pui’s six-fight winning streak with a vicious first-round knockout in their atomweight Muay Thai clash.

Scottish striker Amy Pirnie shines with left hook knockouts in ONE Championship

Amy Pirnie’s victory came via a thunderous left hook, and it extended her run of success to 21 consecutive fights. Coincidentally, two other strikers from the 31-year-old’s country – Nico “King of the North” Carrillo and Stephen “El Matador” Irvine – have finished fights in ONE with the same strike recently, and she commented on that interesting fact in a recent interview with Sportskeeda MMA.

“I think everyone from Scotland has come here and made their mark. I think that’s three of us in the last month who have knocked our opponents out with a left hook. So I just think that shows how strong and tough we are,” Pirnie said. Carrillo further proved he’s ready for a World Title shot by knocking out Thai veteran Saemapetch Fairtex at ONE Fight Night 23 last month.

He’ll now likely challenge the winner of the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title clash between reigning king Jonathan Haggerty and “The Kicking Machine” Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE 168: Denver in September.

Irvine and Pirnie make waves in ONE Championship

Meanwhile, Irvine moved to 4-1 in ONE when he finished Focus PK Wor Apinya in the first round of their battle at ONE Friday Fights 70, which also went down last month.

Pirnie continued to show Scotland has the goods when she stepped into the ONE Championship ring for the first time this past weekend. Where she goes from here is anyone’s guess, but the Glasgow native is looking forward to booking her next fight sooner rather than later.

“I’ll be back very soon. I’ll be back as quickly as ONE Championship want me back,” Pirnie said. “Everybody comes here for the championships, so it would be awesome to get to that stage, but I’m just happy to fight whoever is put in front of me.”
