A two-year layoff from the ONE circle had the World Flyweight Kickboxing title stripped from Ilias Ennahachi. Understandably, the 26-year-old didn’t necessarily feel very good about it. Reportedly, he had also shed tears after getting stripped off his title. But, the Moroccan-Dutch showcased his true class as he got the better of his opponent, Aliasghar Ghodratisaraskan in his return bout at ONE Friday Fights 6. Ennahachi scored a second-round knockout over his opponent to secure his victory.

However, Ennahachi took the ring at Lumpini Stadium as a Bantamweight but still managed to dismantle his rival. Post his victory, he expressed his pleasure but there were also a couple of things which he wasn’t pleased about. Even his coach expressed discontent regarding those issues.

Ilias Ennahachi played nice but his coach went vocal about his discontent

Despite being discontent about some of the issues, Ennahachi chose to put out his thoughts in a collected manner. In an interview with ‘South China Morning Post’, Ennahachi stated, “I think I have the best fight of this night and why I don’t have the bonus I don’t know, but no problem”.

However, it was Ennahachi’s coach, El Badaoui, who voiced his opinion regarding his discontent. He expressed that he was quite dissatisfied with how there was no interview for Ennahachi to be covered on television after his win.

Also, even after being a former champion, the ’26-year-old’s’ bout was placed at the beginning of the card. It was a position which Ennahachi and his camp weren’t pretty happy about.

The former ONE Flyweight kickboxing champion was stripped of his title since he disagreed to have a title defense rematch. ONE authorities wanted him to face Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE Fight Night 6 in January. The ONE Championship boss, Chatri Sityodtong, also had a few stern words for Ennahachi.

Chatri Sityodtong expressed annoyance on Ilias Ennahachi denying the title defense bout

In an interview prior to ONE Friday Fights 6, Sityodtong told ‘South China Morning Post’, how he was a bit annoyed about Ennahachi denying the fight against Superlek Kiatmoo9.

The ONE boss said, “Some people when they win the belt, they want to say when all was said and done they were a champion for three of four years, because you don’t see the asterisk which is you didn’t fight at all, which is what you saw with Ilias Ennahachi, he didn’t fight”. Sityodtong also revealed the talks in the MMA circuit, stating that Ennahachi moved up a division to Bantamweight in order to avoid the bout with Superlek.

However, the Moroccan-Dutch kickboxer was keen on focusing on his next target, the ONE bantamweight kickboxing world title. He also countered the ONE CEO’s words stating, “I feel at my best in bantamweight and I’m not scared of Superlek, I’m scared of nobody – only Allah, you know”.

Also, there were rumors that the ONE authority had already fixed a future matchup between him and the divisional king, Petchtanong Petchfergus. Ennahachi was nothing short of delighted about this rumor.

He stated, “Great, because the title is mine, I want my title. I give the flyweight title back, and now I want the bantamweight”. He further described his preferred timeline for having the bout as he stated, “I’m ready. Next month, two months, three months, four months – let’s go, because I am ready now. I can fight again right now if you want, let’s do it.”
