“I’m Coming for His Head” – Yuya Wakamatsu Plans to Put Adriano Moraes to Sleep at ONE X

Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu is riding on a lengthy winning streak, and he hopes to extend it further by dismantling ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes.
The Japanese knockout specialist takes on the Brazilian World Champion in a scheduled five-round tilt at ONE X, emanating live from the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Saturday, 26 March.

“I really respect and admire Moraes, but it’s time for a new generation to take over,” the #2-ranked flyweight contender offered.
“I’m coming for his head. I’m going to give it my all. And I want him to give it his all, too. I want a fierce fight.”
Wakamatsu’s confidence is at an all-time high. After succumbing to a pair of defeats in his first two outings on the global stage, “Little Piranha” has taken out a host of athletes, including former division king Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio.
Moraes will be a different challenge altogether. But the 27-year-old fighter believes he has the skillset and perfect gameplan to see off the biggest name on his resume.

“The confidence is half a change in attitude and half through confidence. Of course, I have doubts. But I think I can showcase a culmination of my life’s work in this fight to see if I’m on the right track. If I’m not, then I’ll probably lose, but I truly believe I’ll become World Champion,” he added.

He, however, understands he cannot underestimate Moraes at any point. Wakamatsu knows his rival’s Brazilian Jiu-Jitu will pose some problems for him at ONE X, and it’s one that he has to deal with if he is to stand any chance of leaving the Circle with his hand raised.
He plans to try and minimize Moraes’ threat while implementing his game plan to perfection.

“His ground game and his grappling are what he has in his arsenal, but his biggest weapon is that he has successfully defended his [World] Title numerous times. I don’t think I can even imagine what kind of mentality it takes for a man to continuously reign as champion,” Wakamatsu shared.
“I’d say his weakness is his habit of taking blows. That’ll be what I aim for. I think my strikes are pretty dangerous.”
