Denis Puric picked up a huge win in his latest outing, and he has no one else in mind for his next one. Earlier this month, “The Bosnian Menace” edged #2-ranked Jacob Smith in their flyweight Muay Thai match at ONE Fight Night 21.

Following his win, he boldly called out ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon – a fight that has been on his radar since making his promotional debut in 2022.

Denis Puric has to wait to fight ‘The Iron Man’

“The Iron Man” last competed in September, where he lost in a catchweight Muay Thai bout against kickboxing king Superlek Kiatmoo9 at ONE Friday Fights 34. Later, he was scheduled to take on Japanese superstar Takeru Segawa, but the match fell through after it was revealed that Rodtang suffered an injury.

In a post-fight interview, Nic Atkin of Sportskeeda suggested that Rodtang may be fighting in a kickboxing match in June before potentially facing Takeru in Japan in September, which means Puric has to wait if he only wants to fight the Thai superstar.

The Soi Dogs MMA representative is undeterred in his quest for a dance with Rodtang, though, saying he is willing to compete in a different ruleset if that’s what it takes to get a fight with him. “Rodtang. He’s the only one on my mind. If he’s doing a kickboxing fight, I would be more than happy to put on the 10oz gloves and bang with him in kickboxing,” he said.

Puric’s versatile fighting spirit

Puric was previously based in Thailand and build a friendship with stars like Superbon, Petchtanong Petchfergus, and Buakaw Banchamek. He established his own gym in Canada, but trains with his Thai brothers to prepare for fights in the Asian country’s side of the world. As such, he is comfortable to stay in this side of the world to wait for a potential call in June.

He further added, “We can do MMA, we can do mixed rules – we can start how you want and we can finish how you want. Whatever you want, man, line it up – big gloves, small gloves, no gloves, f***, I don’t care, let’s go!”

“Give me a couple of months. In June, I’ll be ready. I’m going right back in the gym, I’m working on my cardio, I’m gonna get my shit together. Anything you want, bro. Anybody pulls out, I’m f***ing here, I’m ready. I’m gonna stay in Thailand, I’m not going nowhere. I’m coming for your a** bro,” he said.
